I am pretty pleased with myself, and although none of the ideas are really that original (others have done similar things... SD card thing was done on a Note I, but not quite so elegantly in my opinion), I like how they all came together. I'm sorry for the poor quality pics... family is asleep and I cannot access a decent camera so these came from my PS Vita which is more accessible

Using a Otterbox case I've got a phone with a fairly long battery life and a full size SD slot which is currently supporting a 128gb Kingston SDXC card. It did require some cutting with a dremel, but when the case is on there is very difficult to detect the mods visually. Now there is a slight bump where the battery lies, but it doesn't overly deform the case and the SD card is undetectable. Of course it is heavier, but it is worth the weight to me as my cell coverage at work is nonexistent and the extra battery actually allows me to make it through a 12 hour shift with battery life at the end of the day. Now doing this required my cutting through the portion of the case where the NFC antenna is located, thus no NFC commo right now. For me this is no huge loss as it's something I never use though. Your mileage may vary with this though

The gel case is enough to hold the battery in?

Otterbox seems to be using a different polymer for the rubber covering now... It's more... firm (best word I can think of)... Additionally, I cut the original backing tight enough that it is very difficult to remove the battery with that in place. In any case the battery isn't going anywhere.

Jesus that's a right setup. I've seen it before, but like you said not quite so elegantly.

Thank you ;)

Well, I know what my next project will be! I am going to do the battery mod with an Otterbox I just traded for. So, its not like I have to pay the $50 for the case. And I already have the dremel... so the only thing i need to buy is the battery. I see that these Mugen batteries are pushing 100 dollars on the bay... would any 6500 mah battery be good enough for very long battery life?

I would be careful, if other users aren't having problems I'd say go for it, just be aware that the adage about gettingwwhat you pay for is often true with batteries

Very true. But worst case would I have a crappy cheap battery? Or could it actually damage my phone...

Anker battery is just as good and it's way cheaper than mugen. It has solid reviews on it and I'm actually using and I am very satisfied with it. I actually did the Otterbox mod myself (sans sd mod) and I love it!

Oh, btw, the Anker battery only costs $16 (when I purchased it about 6 weeks ago)!
