[Q] Note N9005 & LBE security master
I switched recently from the Note 1 to the N3 (9005, unbranded). Main reason: I want to use the Multimedia Docking Station and a hard drive to get a portable media player and laptop replacement. (The Note 1 could not use HDMI and USB host at the same time).
In order to use my existing NTFS formatted drives I wanted to install the Paragon NTFS&HFS+ app, which needs root access. Though the Vega rooting procedure will make it quite likely to root the N9005 without setting Knox to 0x1 as well, I did not know about that and used Chainfires CF-Auto-Root yesterday to root my device. (So now I got the Knox flag set to 0x1, but that is not the issue).
Having root, I could install the Paragon driver, and they detect a NTFS drive, but it cannot be mounted: I get like many other people here the message
"prevention information: An application has been forced to stop for an unauthorized attempt to access system in your device"
(well, in German Language...)
Since I thought that Knox or so still might be active, I flashed then the rom "SM-N9005XXUBMJ1-PRE-ROOTED-ODEX-KNOX-FREE" in order to get rid of any Knox issues.
But connecting a NTFS drive, I got a similar message. Also NTFSmount as an alternative was stopped. One difference was, that the message did not pop up in its own window anymore. The service was just stopped. And Paragon said: Error code 1 Permission denied.
My next try was to install LBE security master which I used as an ad blocker on the older Note 1. But I ran into a kind of boot loop issue: After doing an ad scan or after rebooting the device just freezes. I guess that Samsung also locks LBE, and only the screen can still be switched on and off, nothing else. After rebooting it freezes again after a few seconds.
After several attempts I was fast enough to stop LBE in the app settings menu before the devize froze. Then I could de-install it, and the Note 3 worked fine again.
I repeated this test with newer LBE version 5.0.3967_A1_de_signed.apk with exactly the same results.
Now I am a little bit frustrated. I did not only spend the money for the Note 3, and gave up my warranty, but I am still not able to use it as a small portable media player. though in principle everything works. I pay a device and do not really own it
My questions: Is there anybody who can help me to mount external NTFS formatted drives? And if LBE security master can be made working as well, this would be even better, I don't want to allow all apps to get internet access, especially if my mobile data plan has sometimes not much room left to play with
I searched a lot, but could not find a thread about this issue so far. And I hope it is fine if I open a new one.
Thanks for reading so much, any help is really appreciated!
