I tried GPS on my tablet for the first time in a while due to the same thing and was shocked how fast it is. While I will almost never use my tablet for GPS, nice to know it works well.

note; for you guys who dont use the gps often remember if you dont use it for a while the next time you do use , it will take a little longer the first time as it will need to update the gps-data, its not a rom problem (many peeps get this confused)

Could be a bootloader problem (locked bootloader, so you need to unlock it) or a recovery problem, Aroma needs CWM 1.7.3 or similar recoveries (see the OP for more info)


i have cmw 5.0.0.0. may be thats it? do u have the link where is can down load cwm 1.7.3 pls..

Ok, I have installed 5.1. I used the 260mb file, not the update as I wanted to see the whole Aroma process in action.

I have all my stuff set up to about 90% of how it all looked prior to the update and everything seems fine, but I am a bit confused as to how to use the other Aroma packages. How do I use FLEX-THEME_INSTALLER and FLEX-WIDGAPP-INSTALLER? I tried going in through CWM and installing the theme zip file twice, but it fails. Do I do it through CWM?

Yes, all installers are done through CWM. You may have a corrupted download, try re-download again and flash as usual.

just have to say thanks once again

installed the patch the other day and still had random screen glitches

decided just now to do a full wipe and re install everything from scratch and

I have not encountered any screen glitchiness at all whatsoever

just tried a full screen full hd video on ics+ browser on the you tube site and it loaded right away and played with no problems at all for 15 minutes straight. Awesome.

before when switching to full screen on any browser it would either crash or load black screen prob 85% of the time. When it did play it took 10 seconds to load after getting all distorted and glitchy for a few seconds.

This rom is so smooth so far. THANKS!!!

I'm running into a bit of an odd problem I've never experience before. Ever since I moved to rev 3 (and now the latest flexreaper and bootloader) from 12.5 and the old HC bootloader, I'm having a strange power drain problem. The tablet will seem normal for a while with respect to battery drain. Then I'll leave it, come back a few hours later, and the thing will be flat out of power. Any ideas why? The fact that I can't count on it not running out of juice during the day is a little problematic. :)

Not able to Flash

I'm a DUMP, forget to flash Bootloader to ICS :)

Good Morning,
yesterday evening I tried to Flash the new FLEXREAPER.
It was my first time to flash my A500 but I have knowledge with other Android devices.

But this time I failed and i don't know why!
I did this steps to Flash the rom!


  1. Downgrade from 3.2.1 via Rom to 3.0.1
  2. Rooted my Device via Iconiaroot
  3. Than i have installed Acer Recovery Installer
  4. thor's 1.7 recovery and also the previous version after i had the first stuck!
  5. Start in RecoveryMode and Wipe to Factory
  6. Install .zip ....

Now I stucked at AROMA 2.00 and nothing happend after 30 min.
After this i tried to flash any Kernel and tried again but now result.

I used
  • ICS-FLEXEAPER-STOCK_KERNEL and modules (no overclocking)
  • ICS - OCV3test kernel
  • ICS -V1.0.0~ Kernel with modules

Everytime I stucked at AROMA 2.00

What made I wrong?

Sad but true...its back. The screenglitches are back and hunting me down.
This time it was gone for a longer time like before but now they are back.

Have you ever considered or read what the op post in big red text..?? It is highly adviced that you update your bootloader and/or unlock it before flashing...

I am noticing quiet a bit more battery drain with v5.1; I am down to 20% battery in 3 hours. It may be that I need to fully discharge my battery, wipe battery stats and fully charge the battery, but maybe undervolting will help.

I have never used lulzactive or set cpu before. Any suggestions on what settings I should use for set cpu, especially the voltage. I will possibly switch between 1.2mhz and 1000mhz, what would be the voltages that will be stable and give me the best battery life?

I have been using 5.1 now since release and and have found the stock browser unusable due to screen breakup and glitches. I use dolphin or ics browser+ and have no screen problems with them. I do get an occasional glitch with other apps but they are very few. I have also found that while Thor's ROM has no screen glitches it does have the flash hangups in the stock browser. So for me the stock browser in ICS is junk.

out of the need to know did you patch or full update?

it seemes to me from viewing this thread over the last few months the glitches are coming to people updating by patch instead of full wipe and install.

i did a full wipe including formating flexrom from the 12.5 and have had no glitches at all :confused:

But that is no problem.
All the people complaining about problems like wifi , screen glitches or other stuff please clean out your tablet and do a clean install.

I'm using rev5.1 for a week now so is my brother and it is to most smooth and stable I have had.
If you don't care about over locking just flash the stock Acer kernel, in my opinion it gives more screen glitches then ezterrys one.

Don't expect any update soon as I don't have any problem , if you want help take your logcat of dmsg and contact ezterry , if you don't do that we have nothing to work with.
So complaint about glitches without real feedback is waste of space.

I did the dalvik wipe and didn't have the screen glitches for about an hour but then I visited a site that triggered a glitch and then it was glitching every 10 seconds or so. I'm not complaining at all and I know the screen glitches are not your fault civato. I was just posting my observations. I did a complete wipe including a real format per the OP and fix permissions. Thanks for all the time and work you put into this ROM.

The only thing that is missing this Rom to be the best is the lack of 3G Usb dongle support. I have tried to make this rom run with 3g but i have not been able to. If anyone works with 3g please write a small comentary howto. Thanks a million....

    BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING PLEASE BE SURE TO BE ON THE ICS UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER.
    HOW TO DO THIS UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER THING?

    For Aroma installer you need to be on one of the following custom recovery's
    ezterry's A500PubRecovery
    or
    TWRP 2.1.3 (not 2.2...)
    or
    Thor 1.7.3
    or
    ra-recovery 3.17 (recovery-ra-iconia-3.17-gnm)

    INSTALLATION
    -first take a full nandroid backup !
    -First time installing this rom = wipe all , factory reset , format and make sure to format flexrom!!!
    -flash rom first with cwm or RA recovery
    -Reboot and do your settings.
    -Now you can use the Aroma packages or mods

    If you got problems please before posting them do the following.

    Performe a REAL format....
    here's how to on cwm:

    go to in recovery enter "Backup and Restore" and click on "Toggle backup and restore of internal storage (/data/media)"
    should say enabled....
    then go into "Mounts and Storage" and "format /data"
    this will REALLY format data and you will loose all you have in the in the internal memory.

    As I already mentioned this is my goodbye to the active community.
    I will still jump in to read some stuff but active support or new rom releases is just not for me anymore.
    Life got other plans for me.

    I joined XDA as a noob and to be honest I still feel a noob compared to some of the supurb dev's here on XDA.
    I would like to say thanks to ezterry , thor2002ro , vache , spica1234 , Stefan Gündhör , Skrilax_CZ , blackthund3r , Euclid's Brother , smaury , Moscow Desire and many more.............
    In some way each of you helped me doing my thing.
