I have been doing roots and roms for a few weeks now and my BIGGEST confusion is the order in which to do things.
An example: (and I am a BIG CM7 fan) was the post for putting the new alpha version of CM7 on the S/R.
Suggested install order:
Boot to CWM <--Got it!
Factory Reset (data/cache wipe) <-- Got it!
Install slayher's T-Mobile CM7 ROM <-- Cool, got it!
Install kernel<--Whoa, uhhh HUH? Crap! I am not real sure what I need to do here!
Install 01cpu script for overclocking
(if desired, preferably via adb push - this way the first bootup is nice and fast )<-- Got it!
this is a great set of instructions (except....) '... Install kernel ...'
Would have saved me a little time if that word kernel was a link to what/how it wanted me to install.. It took me a couple of tries to figure it out !
Kudos to the dev group, you guys ROCK!
MAYBE we need an OPERATIONAL section to give instructions on the 'HOW' part... Just a thought... Guess we could always do it in wikipedia...
Thank you for starting this. I think this does belong in the Development forum and should be stickied once it gets where it needs to be.
Anywho, my suggestion is to add a section for CWM-flashable modems. There are only a couple of baseband versions out now but I'm sure that as time goes on and more updates/leaks come out that people will want the ability to use the one they want with whatever rom.
