Re: [ROM][UVALL4][CWM/TWRP][AROMA]Note2 Tweaked 1.5 UPDATED 3/6

Hmm... I know it's not quite so helpful but I am on stock 4.1.2 and I don't even see that as an option.

It's an option if you go into Language and Input / Samsung keyboard settings / Handwriting / Input languages.

This is Samsung input languages, and after that are general language settings. I can select alternate languages under input settings, and then swipe to them with the space bar. But I would have as much luck telling you if any of them are Japanese as I would if they are algebra, but I think the ones with the circle things are Korean, based on karaoke places I've been to.

What?.. Who are u? I wasn't talking to his secretary. It's not cool for u to try to answer questions that was meant for ur boss to answer.

There is no need to get snippy about it.
Rule number one in these threads is do not ask for eta's. We ( the developers ) do this in our spare time between family and our "real" jobs. We also do it with out charge. We do this because we have a passion for it. So be patient he will release it when it is done. If you are that anxious try something new for now. Or make the next update yourself. I apologize if the OP feels i over stepped with this. But as one who understands how hard it is to balance the demand that this kind of work puts on you while still doing the family and work thing. It upsets me to see this kind of attitude.

Nope - not w/ 4.1.1 or 4.1.2. What bool edit are you trying to make? Let me know (and if it's for Tweaked or something else - and if something else what that something else is) and I can whip something up for you if you want :)

Are you using a modified keyboard at all rubin? Just curious - though I can't imagine what that would do to interfere tbh. Are you not able to select it, or is it not correctly picking up what you are writing in Japanese?

Was trying screen rotate for mb4 stock. you using the -b switch or not? Just messing around waiting for 1.6

Thx

Hehe. It's not the first time for him. Same thing in another thread happened. Who knows, third times a charm and all of that.

How do I change the DPI on this ROM? I'd like to set it to 240 that's the sweet spot for me while I was on cm based ROMs

Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2

You change it in system/build.prop

Scroll down to ro.sf lcd_density=320 That is were you change 320 to 240

What he said - thanks Jerry D :)

What's the status on the new update?
Dwitherell is working on it. Not cool to ask for status on future/current developments in work

santana00 - I am farther along than I expected with 4.1.2, but that is at the cost of getting 1.6 (based on UVALL4) ready to go. I have an issue where once I start dabbling I get a bit obsessive until it's finished. I have finished up all the non-SystemUI/SecSettings mods that I want to do - so the end is near. That being said, over half of my tinkering goes into SystemUI so it will still be a bit. You can always check out #tweaked on freenode for updates as well, which decreases the chance of... well, of what just happened there. Let's keep the tempers down - farfromovin was just stating a general principle that is found throughout the forums. Fwiw I tend not to get irritated by such things, but I'm not a fan of thread fighting. And jay.dub - there was no overstepping, it's all good :)

Hmm... yeah I pretty sure I am using the b switch. Odd that it isn't working for you... Did you do any tinkering with 4.1.1? My process did not change at all between the two fwiw.

Re: [ROM][UVALL4][CWM/TWRP][AROMA]Note2 Tweaked 1.5 UPDATED 3/6

Crap - I totally spaced on looking into this, my bad. I got sucked into 4.1.2 tinkering. There's a lib file (maybe 2?) that need to be there as well - I'll look into it tonight and feel free to PM me a reminder if it appears I forgot :)
Also, could you get a logcat of the FC?

I do not have logcat skills. Do I need a certain app to accomplish such things?

Yes, catlog is a good app for that.

There are logcat apps, plus you can use adb or even terminal emulator really. Is this still an issue? I thought it was resolved.
Also, I looked and in theory this should have worked fine in the tweaked modificatinator... I'm not sure where the problem was occurring.

I'm not sure either. I am running clean 1.5 tweaked. Then just tried to use modificanator to add Polaris. Not a crucial issue so I haven't spent the time needed to get it working. I can hold out for 4.1.2. I used to have more time to devote to learning how to do these things but have a 2 year old daughter and I'd rather see her smile than get Polaris working! Thanks for your concern though you are a solid dev.

Japanese: 日本語
Or here's a arrow pointing to the menu item: http://0.starset.net/screenies/20130327210505-Selection.png

So I can get it to download the Japanese handwriting language pack, but can't for the life of me get it to show up in the general Samsung language list, or to be selectable by holding down the space bar. Let me know if you've got better luck than I do.

Doesn't work for me either. I've tried drawing the Ikea cabinet looking thing a bunch of times.
Although I think I can change to the regular Japanese keyboard, for what it's worth. But I'm not sure which language this is.

    Tweaked 1.6 UVALL4 T889 Samsung Galaxy Note 2

NOTE: 1.6 is OTA-only, so you need to already be on 1.5 in order to get to 1.6.

Hey everyone - resident no-one-in-particular here that can't stay away from tinkering it seems. While I haven't had the Note 2 very long, I've been messing around with out-of-date phone stuff for a while now so I thought I'd try and get together a few of the things I've done in the past here. This was my first foray into the world of TouchWizzed Jellybean, and as I had minimal experience with such newer buttery goodness this has been quite the time consuming process - but on the upside I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out.

It should be noted that this is still a work in progress, but I feel enough is done to warrant it being posted - that way others (assuming others give it a shot) can let me know if things don't work or if any oddities come up. Also feel free to comment on how this might improve or if I've gone about anything in a not-so-smart way or if there is anything you would like to see (or wish wasn't there) - I can't promise I'll do anything about it, but such requests keep me motivated and learning, and thats been the driving force behind my tinkering since it began really :)

I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS (GOOD OR BAD) AS A RESULT OF FLASHING OR ATTEMPTING TO FLASH WHAT IS POSTED HERE!

    CWM/TWRP Installation instructions:

Usual rules apply - while very much stable in my experience you should be cautious whenever you flash. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset to avoid issues. Flash in CWM/TWRP recovery - this should of course imply that you will need to already have such things in place if you are interested in giving this a try.

    - Backup your current setup/data
    - Download file and place on sdcard
    - Boot into CWM/TWRP recovery
    - Recommended to wipe data/factory reset in CWM/TWRP recovery
    - Select and install the .zip you put on your sdcard

    Miscellaneous Notes:

As the Note2 is privy to a number of ROMs and kernels, for the sake of simplicity I have included the unaugmented UVALL4 stock kernel. Also - this is still pretty much unthemed (if any would like to change this PLEASE let me know - a themer I am not!). There are a few minor theme-ish things going on in Mms and the Dialer, and the appearance of the pulldown is slightly different, but nothing major by any means. This is primarily UVALL4 stock-themed - and as can be gathered with the look and the included kernel the thinking behind the whole setup is stock with some extra options. My guess is most pre-existing things will give this issues, but I can't imagine any of the TW-based custom kernels out there to cause any grief.

I managed to get the Aroma stuff figured out, so starting with Tweaked 1.1 I will be using an AROMA-based install package. Make sure to thank amarullz for the awesome work!

Download links can be found further down.
Let me know if there are any suggestions/issues/etc - happy flashing!

    Re: [ROM][UVALL4][CWM/TWRP][AROMA]Note2 Tweaked 1.5 UPDATED 3/6

Is there any trick to lock rotation in landscape without the need of some random 3rd party app?

Lol a slip of the finger and bam - you got a thanks :)
I am not sure on this one... my guess is 3rd party app or build.prop edit maybe (though if that's possible I dunno what that edit would be lol).

So I'm about 90% of the way through SystemUI for 4.1.2... I've got a few toggles to clean up, some stock ones to explore, some odd stock home button behavior to look into, some new icon stuff to figure out... lots of little things. That being said, all the big statusbar mods are now in place, which makes me a happy camper anyway :) Once I've got things settled with SystemUI, I'll get 1.6 around to occupy folks until I finish off all the little things that are still left :)

    Howdy folks -

I've managed to get through most of what I call the "little" edits for 4.1.2 - there are still a few more before the 4 or so files that will be a beast to deal with. I'm thinking once I get to that point (all the little things are done), I'll take a step back and get 1.6 together for folks. I was going to do just a little OTA-style one for it and that was it, but I think (given issues people have been reporting w/ 4.1.2) it would be best to stick to the usual ways :)

Also - I've been running stock (even unrooted ?!?) for the last several days, and I haven't noticed any major issues. The reported lockscreen bug floating around looks like a bit of a pita to actually pull off, and the battery drain has been no different - BUT given that I am 1) not in a market set to get LTE right away and 2) there is no LTE on around me at the moment I set the network mode to automatic 4g/3g/2g as opposed to automatic lte/4g/3g/2g... just throwing that out there :)

    Off to bed I go.
