4.4 BETA 1

disclaimer: These builds are based on android's 4.4.2 not 4.4.3...ALSO we recommend you clean flash this build (factory reset)

This week release marks a massive step forward for us. The major reasons is stability of Pie and Hover as well as the implement of CM's Theme Engine! *( Thanks to +Hieu Nguyen* for spending man hours merging these features in for us!)

Thank you to the multiple users who helped donate to us towards purchasing a new server for builds! We're about 50% into the goal. To celebrate this epic response, we spent majority of the day building for ALL DEVICES we support! Hopefully this show good faith that with your help, we can get the resources to push building all these devices for you guys

4.4 RC1 - Kitkat 4.4.3

Dose of awesome sauce on this week from PA Headquarters, again. As you may know we merged 4.4.3 into our source. You will need to flash new bootloader, radio, Gapps and update to latest recovery before going forward. Many bugs have been also resolved on our bug tracker thanks to community’s reports, less to go.

Hover
After many months, many revisions and many concept’s debates we are really proud to finally release first public Hover state. Still some visual things to do but we achieved a great point :) Original idea and first *developed revision by +Jesús David Gulfo Agudelo, subsequently lead by +Carlo Savignano*till current revision.
Due to popularity demand from the community we’ve added a couple of great suggestions:
- If current notification showed in hover is from current foreground app, don’t reopen it in floating.
- Ticker now shows for apps that are blacklisted from Hover.
More sauce to come.

Theme Engine
As you may know as for last monday release, we brought to you CyanogenMod Theme Engine. As for who asked it during this week, we’ll keep Theme Engine up to date with its upstream state. It will be a 0-Day upstream line. We’ve also added support for some AOSP base components as home button refreshing. More to come, since some AOSP components (as stock navigation bar) behaves differently. Nothing to worry about though, because right now only navigation bar’s background isn’t refreshed when applying a theme (needs rebooting).

RC1, what that means?
We achieved an almost stable state for this branch (PA 4.4), no special reasons :)

ParanoidOTA

Hi, wanted to test this ROM on my Tablet.
Everytime I try to download this ROM (even the mirrors) chrome will block the download with the message "this download contains malware".

What to do about it?

Best Regards

strange no issues here with chrome try another browser...

First I was using Chrome where this message appeared.
then I used Firefox => working ;)

Installed the ROM right now and works quite fluid...very good.
CM11 wasn't that fluid.
But the Settings look like on phone and it's not Tablet-UI.
Any chance to change this behaviour?

4.4 RC2

Last monday we introduced our first release candidate, that sadly included a couple of ugly bugs like Chrome one. Today not only recently introduced bugs have been squashed out. We extended Theme Engine support to other AOSP apps along with fixing some system components not getting themed (On-The-Spot and system dialogs). Also many improvements have been made to our features and many bug tracker tickets have been closed. Thanks to you all.

Hover
- General improvements

Peek
- Improved sensors algorithm

Quicksettings
- Fixed theme support
- Separate dimension for dual tile switch so themers can edit it separately
- Other small fixes

Pie
- General improvements

Theme Engine
- Upstream feature patches/fixes
- Fixed system and on the spot dialogs theming
- Other fixes

Recents
- Fixed clear all glitch on quick double press while many apps are loaded
- Crash preventing patches

General
- Fixed various force closes (Chrome, Settings, DocumentsUI)
- Fix input settings empty screen when launching from keyboard
- Fixed Safe Headset Volume dialog Softboot

Nexus 5
- Fixed lens blur rendering

P.S. If you like the themes in the image below #Flux (left) theme is available in the PlayStore, show +John Xionidis some love. #Nue (right) theme by +Arz Bhatia isn’t available yet, stay paranoid :)

AOSPA 4.4 (No RC or BETA tags :D)

sorry for post delay, Google I/O seduced me

Exciting week! We finally have a final release of 4.4 version of PA (however, for legacy users, stable may vary due to cm base and its bleeding edge code and old devices running older code/binaries), just in time for Google I/O !

+Rob Farnham*finally got enough initial funds to purchase the first deposit on the new server! Thanks to you guys and your donations!! We nicknamed it "monster". However we have to work on paying off the rest of it. (Expensive server but with build times of 6-10 mins). We need you guys help and appreciation to help us maintain and pay off the difference (280 usd to be exact)! I really want to thank each and every person who took their hard earned money and donated to the server acquirement

New device added:
OnePlus One - bacon thanks to +Sfera Dev*

casa grande
i saw a commit that may fix it so we don't need the hack anymore... might...

I downloaded it but it is the same as I flashed a couple days ago. I am not having any problems with wallpapers. I have one that I got from my gallery and it works fine. Wasn't having any issues with the last build either.

    Pie

With the release of KitKat, not only did a few icons and applications change, the entire environment shifted. Android is becoming easier to use; something that “just works.” As previously mentioned, we’ve decided to take a new approach to the ParanoidAndroid ecosystem due to these changes. One of the “flagship” features of PA has been Pie, a simple, straight-forward replacement of the navigation bar that optimizes the screen space available to the user. Due to the introduction of immersive mode, we were faced with a challenge. The soul of what Pie was in Jellybean didn’t belong in a KitKat world. So, we decided to redesign both the functionality and style of Pie while maintaining a familiar feel. After countless late nights and internal debate, we are happy to announce the following.

    * Pie has been redesigned to match the KitKat design philosophies, with new typography and cleaner animations.
    * Pie is now fully integrated into the core user experience with the introduction of on-the-spot preferences. Gone are the days of sorting through endless settings, it can now all be configured on the fly.
    * Pie gives you all your status information at a glance, when your status bar is hidden, allowing you to get the full immersive experience without missing out on important information.
    * Pie now integrates the stock google now gesture. Your cards are never more than just a quick swipe away.
    * Pie no longer features access to the notifications and quick settings panel. Immersive mode means there is always quick access to the status bar.

We hope these changes improve the pa experience you know and love.

So... care for a slice? Nom nom nom
