Hello all,
I want to address an issue that is bothering the users of Android since G1. The android OS does not support complex script rendering.
The issue has been addressed in Google Code:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4153
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=5925
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=564480
But Google Engineers have yet to come up with a solution. Most probably the issue is caused by patent restrictions. Most vendors give support to regional languages in their regional firmware.
Now some users of Arabic had same problem. By replacing libskia.so and other files, it was possible to add arabic support to a non supporting firmware.

http://forum.androidspin.com/showthread.php/2376-Arabic-Support?
Again sridharrn suggests that Indian Firmware for X10 Mini Pro supports Devanagri and Bengali Script out of the box. (http://sridharrn.wordpress.com/2010/10/07/indian-languages-on-andriod/#comment-36)
So I was wondering if some one could devise a hack that could enable the Cyangenmod (minicm) to support Devanagri and Bengali in browser.
This is how the present rendering look like:
And if suitable, could this thread be moved to the dev forum?
