It has been a long day and it's not over yet
I'll be telling you my story today with the OGP so you won't have to go through what i did.
My phone is the f240l Korea model, and as of many of you know, the phone is an absoulte pain to live with if you're not from Korea.
So i started messing around with the very limited roms we have in order to have a comfortable experience with the device, so as i was "playing" with different roms/kernels/basebands i firstly got to a point where the phone doesn't recognize my sim because i went ahead and took a shot at the e988 baseband because the current one was having issues with recognazing my contacts names (yes it's baseband related) and other small issues.
When flashing the f240l baseband back and the phone still not getting service i went back to the rom that i previously used, and here is where the fun starts, the rom was designed for the international so i needed to flask my kernel after that in order for it to work, the only small detail was that the kernel was on the SD card, so you can guess righ now what my dear CWM said to me... "cannot mount external sd card"
, of course i tryed it 10 times just in case it changed it's mind
, it was at this point that i felt the threat, but i said to myself, hell i'll flash the korean custom rom (feiyu) back on and that should boot my phone at least, i'll move the kernel to the internal sd and KKabbam, little did i know that Feiyu's rom does not flash the kernel nor baseband by default, then i got nervouse and i said to myself that i'm gonna have a chat with the officials and rescue me from my mess "downloads LG Mobile Support Tool", (phone was 50% when i started playing with the basebad) okk, installed, phone in download mode and BAMMMM, message from LG: Baterry is critically low please do a full charge and try again; i knew then i was fu*ked because if the phone does not boot the phone does not charge, i was starting to rage and my redneck instincts took over and told me to rig the battery with wires and ductape to a usb cable with the red wire on + and black on -, i left it overnight and of course that sh*t failed, at least my battery didn't explode or anything, so i went downtown in the morning to get one of those universal battery chargers (i'm sure some of you know how those look like) to get my battery juiced up. It was no easy task finding such a charger but eventually i found something, but it was one of those chinese cheap ones. Got home, aligned the pins on the charger with the +/- on the battery (there were absolutely no indicators of the polarity on the charger so i just assumed which is which) and a red LED lights, i was like yeahhh baby we're back in business, i plug it in and two more LED's light up on that charger which i have no idea what they did because they stayed on the whole time it was plugged in and charging.
2 hours pass, let's try it outt - battery critally low, 3 hours pass LG Tool: Battery critically low, please charge, 5 hours pass, still the same. Hmm.... either i missmatched the polarity either the charger is absolute crap, so i looked at the output of the charger....... 250Ma..... WWAAAATTTTT, after a quick calculus i figured that the 250ma charger will fully charge my 3200ma battery in 15 hours
11 hours pass and i'm giving it another go, LG mobile gives me the GO only to stumble myself on this amazing download speeds of the LG SERVERS picking up mad speeds peaking at 35kb/s, then i said to myself how in the hell will my phone last 10 hours in download mode until the download is finished? If i wait i risk that the phone shuts down before the download is finished thus i'll lose another full day charging the battery, or even worse shut down during the flash process. I know, there's another tool "FlashTool.1.0.54" to the rescuue i said, then again i got spit in the face because damn thing crashes more ofthen that my grandmother on a skateboard would (both win xp and 7) so again i'm left with no options that to be LG mobile suport tool's bit*ch.....
I'm saing to myself ok man, let's have a fresh start, so i restart my PC an allmighty router and let's goooo, maybe i'll hit a better mirror or something or whatever system LG is using, i even installed the suite in my language as i secretley hoped i'll hit a server in my country and blast it with a 3-5mb download speed, unfortunately this was not the case and i'm back on the ol' reliable 30-35kb/s, here's where my lucky brake finnaly came through, while the phone was in download mode and the software is downloading i unplugged the battery from my phone and YESSSSS the download is still ongoing, only 9:50 hours left yayyyyyyy!
By the time i'm writing this the download reached 50% and i hear the baloon pop sound of death: LOW DISK SPACE ON C:\........ cccccmmmonnnnnnnnnnn
, in a desperate attempt to swiftly free some space i SHIFT-DELETED some random program files which i'll probably hear about on my next reboot
Possible ending scenarios:
-when ill try to reconnect the phone when the download is almost completed it might get interrupted and cancel my download
-ill wait for the download to finish (get the error that the phone is not conected) start over and pray to the LG devs that the firmware is saved to my HDD and not in some temp folder.
Hope you liked my story
and i hope i can fix my phone when the DL is done. Sorry for my grammar, it's 4AM and english is not my 1st lang.
