Thanks for discovering this method. My G2 320L is only able to enter fastboot mode.
I went through your steps:

C:\>fastboot erase recovery
erasing 'recovery'... OKAY

C:\>fastboot erase laf
erasing 'laf'... OKAY

C:\>fastboot flash laf laf.img
sending 'laf' (15360 KB)... OKAY
writing 'laf'... OKAY

Removed my battery and disconnected the USB, held Vol + and slipped in the USB again.
It flashed up the Download initial logo but then reverted to fastboot mode and not download.

I don't think I'm doing this wrongly, any ideas? Maybe the laf.img is not good for 320L but the page where you got your laf.img doesn't have one for 320L.

Regards, Albert

No luck I'm afraid. same result, back to fastboot. I'll have to see if I can find more files that may have been destroyed or corrupted and reflash them or something like that. There must be one that isn't present on my phone that was on all the others that have been recovered with your method. Thanks for helping though.

Well I'll be..... I downloaded the 805 laf.img from the web site your posted and flashed that onto my phone, then treid to go into recovery, it worked!!!

Tell me, how can a Korean variant phone think it is a Mexican variant? Time to try and recover things. Great guide, and thank you, inspirational help.

---------- Post added at 08:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:11 PM ----------

Now how do I get my phone to accept it's from Korea not Mexico!

Question: Now I've gotten over the fastboot loop problem, how do I force the phone into fast boot? I think I'm missing a recovery or a boot partition, anything the laf doesn't rebuild.

Two days! ! Finally my big black brick was REPAIRED!!

Suggestion: PLEASE Read my pevious post FIRST
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2476972

My mom no longer warries about my G2 would become a brick! ! !

(Er, impatient guys can look at the red part only)

I promised in my pevious post, "If I could got my F320K brick repaired,I would write down my process in detail to help my friends stucking in the same problem"

I'm not professional, I'm just one of the thousands of G2 owner, BUT if I can help my friend out of trouble, no matter how many obstacles are there in the way, we would never give up.

Thx for all who replied my pevious post, without you, my machine is still a big brick ...
Most grateful to weiqinjun in GFAN, he gave me what i needed to repair my phone (see http://bbs.gfan.com/forum.php?mod=redirect&goto=findpost&ptid=6728131&pid=188315198 )

Well , we are now beginning

First in fastboot mode (refer to my previous post, I enter it by plugging USB into G2 with pressing the volume + ), we need to download "fastboot tool" (I posted at the end of this thread,in a 7Z file)
With this tool we can flash IMG into phone's memory partitions...

Then we need to find the corresponding img package .

I used to think of using recovery (enter method, holding the PWR and volume + for about 5 sec),but this machine seems to have a locked bootloader, unoffical recovery could not be started, But the official one have no use, pass)

Through trial and error, I found that each mode is associated with a partition (the recovery.img flashed into boot, it would start recovery automatically when booting)
So I think the download mode is related with a partition which has been lost.So i need a IMG file for this partition. . .

this time weiqinjun helped me find http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2
I just tried one by one. Finally, I found it. . . .

! ! ! NOTICE! The following is the method of repairing DOWNLOAD MODE:
1 get your phone into fastboot mode, connect to the computer with usb, wait for it automatically installing the driver
2 extract the 7Z file I provided into a ROOT drive,for example D:
3 Open CMD, input
Code:
     D:
     fastboot erase recovery
     fastboot erase laf
     fastboot flash laf laf.img
After OKAY appear, we can get battery out (IF your phone can't ,you should input
Code:
fastboot reboot
and press the PWR butten for a LONG time..till it FULLY power OFF),
get your USB cable off, then insert your bettery, holding the volume + and insert USB cable to connect with your computer...
I'M GLAD TO SEE YOU AGAIN, DOWNLOAD MODE! ! !

The operations after entered the download mode, see http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2432476

Notice: This time you should flash tot file with LG Flash Tool only...refer to the second part of this and find the tot and dll file by yourself...

Ok, so when I try to turn on my g2 it is stuck on fastboot and then if I try unbricking it through this method http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-flash-unbrick-lg-g2-back-to-stock.html it will get stuck at 49%. So is this my fix? Is this guide what I need to do?

you can do like me in your UpTestEX.exe

I have more or less the same issue. Was with StockMod for D802 and received an official OTA and accepted and installed it. Now I'm stuck in bootloop. Unlike you guys, I can go into recovery BUT I can't seem to go into fastboot mode. When I hold the Volume Up and connect the phone through cable to my laptop, the phone boots but goes automatically into recovery mode. Did system wipe as well (which I shouldn't have) and at that point my phone has no OS to boot into so I used ADB to transfer CM 10.2 and GAPPS to my phone hoping that if I do it like I'm flashing a custom rom will help but unfortunately it didn't. I' still stuck in bootloop and can't go into fastboot. help please...:crying:

Having a similar issue with my LS980. Was rooted stock and accepted an LG UIUU? update. Phone rebooted into TWRP recovery and thats all I can do. Didn't make a backup prior like an idiot. When I turn off the phone it asks to install supersu for root but that doesn't change anything. When I boot into download mode it says rooted on the bottom. Anyway, how in the world do i get this thing back to stock? Is it possible or am I throwing this awesome phone away already?

I finally unzipped the 7z file on my ubuntu and i went and tried to flash the laf.img and it still won't work. I can't find a "fastboot folder" in my computer even when i search for it.

This is the message that i'm getting when I flash the file:

    root@EPetela:~# fastboot flash laf laf.img
target reported max download size of 1862270976 bytes
error: cannot load 'laf.img': No such file or directory

    help

put the laf.img in c:\ (if c is your root) and
    fastboot flash laf c:\laf.img

edit: What i said was for Windows. For ubuntu, right click on the file for watching the path of the file and
    fastboot flash laf path/laf.img
You can even drag and drop the file in terminal, it writes the location of the file for you.
So, write the following in terminal "sudo fastboot flash laf ", and drag and drop the file laf.img into the terminal and press on enter.

Can we use the same laf for d802 32gb? 442 firmware was installed before brick
extracts yourself the laf corresponding to your firmware (kdz) with this tool:

you can refer to my original post in http://bbs.gfan.com/android-6735246-1-1.html (in CHINESE)for further and up-to-date information...
