Hi,
I try to root with this tutorial but no luck. Root Checker Basic say that device has no root privelege.
@ dtronics One more thing you didn't mention that SuperOneClick will install any other SW like BusyBox.
Anyway you ned to work on this guide

please make sure a sd card is inserted for this to work, sim card is optional but recommended
ok first thing you wanna do is download super one click v2.2 (i have attached the setup file)
once you have it extract it somewhere easy to find
make sure you dont have htc sync installed if you do uninstall it
connect your phone in charge only and make sure USB Debugging is enabled
run super one click
make sure the drop down box to the right says AUTO underneath the exploit title
click the big ROOT button and sit down and enjoy a coffee
after a while you should see

Hboot , I didn`t unlock boot using htcdev.

Last night I tried your method for rooting and confirm, It works flawleslly.
After successfully rooted i installed Super Su, Root explorer ...
I deinstalled facebook and Amazon preinstalled application.

I just unlocked my Desire S boot loader by HTCDEV and then flash CWM recovery through fastboot thats it... I m done
Now i have custom recovery, i just install the super user.zip file and my phone
rooted now with CWM recovery...
