what's wrong with audio?

Hi everyone, I've been waling here or months in order to find what could be wrong with my audio.
It seems everyone made his Shift work well under Win7.
I tried to install Win7 - all the drivers are installed well, perhaps some of them required double installation, like touch screen, as it didn't work from the first time.
But the audio!? It installs well but there's no sound!!!
I found our that it is SnapVue that controls audio, well I reset it, and got the sound. After the next reboot - no sound again. And SnapVue reset doesn't help any more.
The same thing is under windows XP - no sound!!!! And XP doesn't even has this feature to reset SnapVue.

I see there are so many people here who can work well with their Shifts under Win7 and XP. Could anyone tell me the secret, PLEASE!!!!
As there are already two months that I torment my device and he doesn't give me any audio!!!!

I agree with something that someone else recently said in these forums, that a disk image backup utility and an external drive are your most powerful tool for such matters. These tools snapshot the entire hard disk of your Shift and save it to an external hard drive. They also provide the facility to restore these snapshots back onto your Shift hard disk.

The utility that I use is 'Paragon Backup & Recovery', which is often free on PC magazine DVDs.

During my installation of Windows 7, periodically backed up my Shifts hard disk during the installation. If something went wrong, such as the touch screen driver stopping working, I restored a snapshot before the touch screen stopped working and continued from there, armed with the foreknowledge to look out for anything that breaks the touchscreen driver. Fortunately in my case, my continuation of setting up Windows 7 updates and drivers did not cause the touch screen driver to break again, which leads me to believe that the same thing might not happen twice in a row when installing windows 7, i.e. you can be unlucky.

As an example for your current situation, you could backup your hard drive to an external disk for safe keeping. You could then restore the default vista recovery partition option onto you Shift, and then evaluate with that whether your audio is perfectly working:
- If your audio works perfectly with the default Vista Business restore, they you know that you do not have a hardware problem, and that the SNAPVue firmware and radio firmware are fine, and can conclude that he problem is with you Windows 7 software drivers.
-If you audio continues to give problems even with the default Vista Business restore, then you know that you either have a hardware problem or that the problem is with the Snapvue firmware or radio firmware.

From whichever conclusion you make, you can continue the investigation from there to eliminate more until you are left with the truth, which hopefully leads to the solution!

Link correction

IMPORTANT:
Once you finished installing Windows 7, you MUST install the "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7" package first of all.

1. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7
Version: 15.12.75.4.1930 (8.15.10.1930)
Release Date: 02 Oct 2009
Download Link: T8Clearance.aspx?sType=&agr=Y&ProductID=&DwnldID=18223&url=/18223/a08/win7_1512754.exe&PrdMap=&strOSs=&OSFullName=&lang=eng

I cannot put direct link (Forum restriction), so you have to get it on your own with Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18223 on Intel's download center... Or paste this 18223/a08/win7_1512754 DOT exe

Version: 15.12.75.4.1930
Release Date: 02 Oct 2009
Size: 22.71 MB

    Touch screen problem

can someone reupload this drivers fo win7?
    links is broken.

    Thanks

You can easily type in google the name of the driver you want to get and it will find the download page for you.
    Or use this page htc.com/us/support/htc-shift/downloads/
    or http://tb.gtxhosting.ru/pub/htc_shift.zip
Do NOT install 2nd [video] driver from the archive as it will cause BSOD.

I'm happy with my Shift, with Windows 7 without blue screen. I love HTC products, love Shift - it's larger than my HTC HD2 but more smaller than my HP HDX 18 :p
All drivers below are working fine on my Shift. :D
Sorry if my English is bad, hope you know what I write

    IMPORTANT:
Once you finished installing Windows 7, you MUST install the "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7" package first of all. Then restart now as the package required. A DOS window will be appeared for enabling WinSAT and configuring Aero. Everything will be nice, please wait...

    0.4329229_1_1.png

If you leave the Aero mode enabled before installing this driver, you will be welcome by the blue screen of death crash when Shift boots into high resolution mode.

    NOTE:
    • After installing the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, you can continue with any driver package without the order.
    • You should install Synaptics TouchPad driver before installing the Shift Control Center.
    • You need only to install “EC Driver, TouchScreen and Shift Control Center” with Vista Compatibility mode and Run as administrator (Right-click the setup file -> Properties -> Compatibility tab, select Windows Vista and check “Run this file as Administrator”). For other packages, need only ENTER-TO-RUN because they’re supported Windows 7.
    • If you need only finger reader for logging into Windows, you can go now to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Biometric Devices and set your fingerprint data. Need more fingerprint, as logging into Web sites, password forms on any programs... you need a 3rd software as DigitalPersona Personal, etc... (only select one of them)
    • If the high resolution screen make you carzy, and the natural resolution (800x480) do not display when click right on Desktop > Screen resolution, let find it in the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator: click right on Desktop > Graphics Properties... -> Display Settings)
    • "Marvell SD8686 Wireless LAN SDIO Adapter, ASIX AX88772 USB2.0 to Fast Ethernet Adapter, CSR Bluetooth Radio and Sonix Webcam" are not auto-installers, you have to do manualy update via Device Manager (Right click My Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager -> Right click the device name -> Update Driver Software... -> Browse my computer for driver software, and select the folder contains driver files). Device names (when not update driver yet) are:
      • Other devices -> Marvell 802.11 SDIO ID: 0B (Marvell SD8686 Wireless LAN SDIO Adapter)
      • Other devices -> AX88772 (ASIX AX88772 USB2.0 to Fast Ethernet Adapter)
      • Bluetooth Radios -> Generic Bluetooth Radio (CSR Bluetooth Radio)
      • Imaging devices -> USB 2.0 Camera (Sonix Webcam)
      0.4329230_1_1.png

      0.4329231_1_1.png
    • Enable bluetooth/wifi (if disbaled, via the Shift Control Center program) for installing drivers of them, as same as plug the USB Hub into Shift for installing the ASIX driver.
