Default Turning on A100 without Power Button?

I need to know if you can turn the device on without using the power button.

Can you turn the device on, just by plugging in the charger? I am going to mount one permanently in my car, and need to figure this one function out. It will not be removable, and will be flush with no access to charge port, or power buttons.

If the power is off, and the charger sends a charge to the charger, will it power on on its own?

The Iconia fits my (slightly modded) double-din space perfectly.

Thanks.
If it ain't broke, fix it.

DONATE TO ME
Plugging in and unplugging the charger wakes it up. If it's completely off, it doesn't turn it on, only if it's sleeping. I wouldn't suggest relying soley on this to wake it up as everytime the screen times out you'll need to unplug and plug it in, that's a big strain on it.

Ah well. I looked at a breakdown of the tablet and there is no direct access to the power button either, so I guess I'm going to give up completely on this project.

Sucks.
If it ain't broke, fix it.

Can you tell me if pressing the reset button while off will turn it on? I may be able to tap into that easier if I open it up.
If it ain't broke, fix it.

I have this setup in dash in my car as per my thread (link below)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1605571

I have it so the tablet is only powered when the car is on or on the acc position , I keep the screen lock off and use a screen off app to turn it off ...then to wake it I turn the key and it comes on ...I have no problems with the tablet dying overnight .... goes down 10% at the most .....

I have asked ezterry to try to see if he can integrate touch to wake so you would simply have to touch the screen to wake it ....might or might not happen depends if he can figure it out

I would say there are other ways at maintaining power button access and still having it in dash but it depends on how your dash is shaped ....maybe fabing up a sort of slider button in your fiberglass mount or your double din dash adapter .....

Don't give up this is easily the best mod ever ......if you have any questions just hit me up on pm

I would think it wouldn't take much to mod up a simple slide or rocker button to mechanically activate the stock power button through on the dash/mount. Or even to tap into the the switch's connections. I believe it only going to be a 2 pin momentary switch.

Dash won't allow any headroom whatsoever. And it looks like any tablet I fit in there will have the same issue. Ugh. Also, I can leave the car for days without touching it, so the tablet will die often.

I looked at some diagrams and it doesn't seem to be any real access to the power button. I think because it has a light integrated, there isn't just simple switch wiring I can tap into.

I'll be glad to be wrong, I wanted the whole project to be done this afternoon. It sucks because the Iconia fits my cutout perfectly, and I've already modded my Double-Din adapter (which was only $20.)
If it ain't broke, fix it.

Agreed.

If the tab is sitting flush in the adapter, the power switch is right there. Even a tiny notch in the mount and you could access the power button with simple lever (ie: a small straight piece of rigid plastic or metal).
