4 - Extract boot.img from CHN rom that you can find in sammobile.
5 - "Tar it"
6 - Install boot.tar via odin. Now you won't have wifi.
7 - Copy the following files from CHN stock rom. To copy this files you have obviously to extact them. You may use, I think Toldo won't be mad, his stock rom's Zipaligned, deodexed.....
/system/lib/modules/dhd.ko
/system/lib/modules/scsi_wait_scan.ko
/system/lib/modules/tcrypt.ko
/system/bin/wlandutservice
/system/bin/wpa_supplicant
I did this based off of the latest available rom at samfirmwares (Czech - P7500XWMPJ_P7500XEZMP1_XEZ):

0. Flashed czech rom with odin (I already had that one)
1. Flashed boot.img from china rom with odin.
2. Replaced czech's /system/lib/modules/* and /system/bin/wpa_supplicant with china's (wlandutservice happened to be exactly the same). I actually used ext4utils to build a new system.img so that I can reflash it with odin on multiple tabs.

But, still no wifi...

When trying to turn wifi on, wpa_supplicant complains with:

Code:
Could not read interface wlan0 flags: No such device
Any idea why?

Yea yeah, I know I can just flash chn + steiffmeister. But I'm trying to figure out what the minimum changes to get rid of the deepsleep bug are.

EDIT: Ok, nevermind, I messed up copying files over from one firmware to the other. The steps described by Phibs DO work. Now I have a czech + china mashup rom with working wifi and the tab deepsleeps like a baby so far. I'll be posting a new thread with an odin-ready rom in case it help others.

EDIT 2: Here is a link to my odin-ready rom that fixes the deepsleep issue. Based on the czech rom + china boot.img: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2219964

Great!! I'm not the only one with the problem solved with the steps that i described.
For me it's still working like a charm, 6 or 7 months past.
Thank you for your feedback!

Yes, I sent it two times but they only change the battery, l2_hsic problem is already drainning battery...

First time they say all were perfect... Yesterday I flashed a Wifi version kernel and all is working correctly for the moment, if in few days all continue without drain I will flash the entire Wifi ROM.

---------- Post added at 10:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 AM ----------

I have tried to flash P4wifi CM10.1 but through product.device error. In build.prop I have change this value and all 'p4wifi' with 'p4'.

Is totally secure to flash the entire ROM? The p4wifi kernel works good, but I don't know if changing these values in build.prop I can create any problem.

Thanks!

I took a look into Phibs' zip, and found out that it actually doesn't flash kernel at all So I made a correct one (I hope) and made the kernel insecure, with addition of su library so it should root your rom if you doesn't have that already. You just need to install SuperUser or SuperSU from Google Play and update the library. Please test it if anyone is interested - I need feedback if root works on unrooted roms and if the package doesn't mess up stuff on already rooted roms.

PS. It doesn't work on any CM & AOKP rom, only stock!

Sorry, as i said before, i never tested it. I did it manually and then decided to create a zip file for future use. The reason i decided to create my own zip file was because i wanted to use the stock chinese kernel, root it with no extras... I used a thread from xda-developers but if you say it does not work, probably i did it wrong. Maybe because the boot.img i used is the stock without root.
Using the stiffmeister zip and probably yours, the samsung logo has no sound, the dropbox is installed and the kernel is already rooted.

Thanks anyway.

I'd say it was incomplete Lines for kernel package extract were missing. You can take a look into my package and compare or... nevermind. I hope it works And I didn't remove the boot sound as it can be done on rom level by removing the sound file physically, and my package is just the boot.img.

No problem. You gave the idea for cwm package and that's important.

Hi,

Thanks for cracking this, finally no battery drain. I wanted to use Yoda 2.4 kernel, but when I installed it the l2_hsic kernel wake locks returns...
Is there any way we can use custom kernel for OC?

Hi there,

I just flashed the updated version from Phibs and Toldo combination zip file and now my tab is just rebooting. I flashed the zip file via CWM Recovery and everything went sweet. Restart tab, it shows samsung logo then disappears, shows the logo again then back into CWM >_>

I have cleared the cache just thought might work, but made no difference! Please advise!

Thank You.
