hey i had the same prob wid my gs3, nd i too tried everything possible ( almost :P ) including the efs backup blah blah!! backporting blah blah ablosutely nuttin worked!
went to spamsung service center n they said plz replace ur mainboard!! cost about 130$ in india!
luckily today i wanted to checkout the official android 4.3 rom for sg3 and so i flashed it on to my phone using odin nd der we go!!
my imei is no longer 0049***!!!
is back to original nd i can make calls and send/receive txt msgs!!!
