Hey - I flashed this successfully yesterday and works fine - I do have one issue however - if I plug headphones in whenever sound is used i can hear some weird noise/interference in the background.

The easiest way to notice this is by using the keyboard - whenever you type a letter you hear the noise, the sounds is played, and then the noise stops. It is like the background noise only comes up when a sound is being played (assume this is because the jack is woken then slept?)

Any ideas how to fix this?

No idea, I'm running currently on P6810 partition with SkyHigh ROM and kernel.

Appears to be a stock firmware "issue". I just disable touch sounds in settings menu.

Hmm that is a bit annoying - it actually happens for all audio not just touch sounds. I think I might give your skyhigh ROM a go see if that fixes the issue.

Hi~ I want to ask a question about the screen off animation. I want to use the stock screen animation(the screen turn off immediately), but after I flashed the SkyHigh Kernel, the animation becomes that one in 4.0.4, which is turn dimmer and off. Can I switch the animation by myself:confused: Thx a lot~

Sorry, you misunderstood (I probably wasn't clear enough).

I meant, it's same on my device.

Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Fair enough - thanks for letting me know. I confirmed that it also occurs in the skyhigh ROM so I'm going to downgrade back to ICS and see if that sorts it.

The ROM was good otherwise! :)

Nothing to do with this guide ...... Please post in appropriate threads.

If both enabled in ROM and kernel supported, it stays on.

Downgrade to ICS went without any issues (thanks for the brilliant guide btw!) Weirdly the audio noise issue is still present!? What's odd is that I didn't have any problems until I flashed the JB ROM - does anything persist when you downgrade?

If you mean on my device, I can't remember anything on ICS.

If you mean: firmware files or settings from JB to ICS, if you've downgraded and factory reset - nope

Thanks for the info. Think I might experiment with a couple of other ROMs to see if the issue persists - maybe my hardware has just gone a bit dodgy - hope not though!

Problem with connecting to the exchange server from office365

Hi,

I have a problem after upgrading to the new version.
It seems to be impossible to make a connection to the exchange server from work after installing this upgrade. At least that's what the guys at office365 are telling us. Mapi is working fine, so is POP, but exchange seems to be a problem.
Do I really have to downgrade again ?
And will that solve the problem ?
Or is the problem caused by the resetting of the device as you mentioned in your message ?

HELP?!

[GUIDE] Flash Official JB 4.1.2 Firmware on P6810 Wi-Fi Device

Sick and tired of Samsung ignoring the official JB 4.1.2 update for our much maligned and forgotten device?

Well, you’re in luck, this guide will effectively turn your P6800 Wi-Fi device into a P6800-GSM/3G model. We do this by changing the device partition layout and then flashing P6800 firmware with Odin.

Of course, due to hardware differences, you won’t have a working radio/modem. Also, some unneeded system apk's will need to be removed and the UI will also need some cosmetic changes etc, but it's a start.

WARNING & DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible, YOU are! You can probably forget about your warranty. This will wipe everything and increase your flash counter too !

PRE-FLASH REQUIREMENTS

1. Internal sdcard contents backed up off device
2. Any apps & data (is you wish) backed up off device

DOWNLOAD REQUIREMENTS

1. P6810 Wi-Fi model with a FULL battery
2. Windows PC
3. P6800_3G_16G.pit
4. Download P6800 JB 4.1.2 DXMD3 firmware from:
5. Odin 3.07
6. Samsung drivers

METHOD

1. Extract P6800_3G_16G.pit & P6800 firmware so you just have .pit & .tar files
2. Drivers
a) Uninstall or disable KIES
b) Install Samsung drivers & reboot PC
3. Run Odin 3.07 & install
[PIT] = P6800_3G_16G.pit
[PDA] = P6800 official JB 4.1.2 firmware .tar file
4. Download Mode
a) Power off device
b) Hold volume down + Power
c) Release buttons at Warning Menu
d) Volume up to continue
5. Connect device to PC via USB cable
6. ID:COM should change colour in Odin 3.07

Odin%203.07%20Setup.jpg

7. Click [START] and watch the magic

Successful%20JB%20Odin%20flash.jpg

8. If you get a screen message with button [Reset perangkat] (Reset device), just tap it

NEW PARTITION LAYOUT

Yes. Your device is now effectively a P6800 without phone connectivity.

I don't know. I don't get reboots unless I tweak something too much. Remove any tweaks and factory reset. Don't restore anything and set up fresh.

Hi, ever since I upgraded I am getting this reboot problem as well. I switch wifi and sound off in the evening and in the morning my device is switched off.
I have noticed that after using pocket it shuts down as well.

Not within the scope of this guide.

Please don't double post. It's frowned upon as you already have a post in Q&A (where it belongs)......

More an more problems.

Hi,

I installed your update some months ago (thx by the way)
First thing I noticed is that my device would not sync with the 'outlook.office365.server of my employer anymore. Since then I have not been able to sync my appointments or my emails from work.
That is a nuicance. However, of late I have encountered some different problems.
I cannot install additional software or upgrade existing apps since I keep getting the message that it is not possible to install xxx because not enough memory.
Now when I check my memory there is plenty of internal, simmulated and externlal memory, even when checked with 'terminal emulator'I have plenty of memory space left.
Now, I cannot install new apps or upgrade existing ones. and if I remove apps, I cannot reinstall them.

Does anyone have any suggestions to remedy either of these problems ?

I am very close to throwing my device in the bin and buying a new one (which would be a shame since it is one of the best devices around). Only samsungs software is such a disapointment, and their (close to none existing) support here is infuriating.

HELP please, anyone ???

Big THANK YOU to OP and post #2.

My GT-P 6810 that was serving as an egg timer for the last 8 years or so after an half bodged Cyanogen flash is back and working in ICS 4.0.4.

And as I already had an completely forgotten TWRP install already in place, it was a quick fix following the tutorial :)

BUG - Can't quite get any custom recovery flashed properly on JB

Edit: Just flash TWRP 2.6.1.0 in Odin [PDA]. Done ;)

    In TWRP recovery:

    Internal sdcard = emmc
    External sdcard = sdcard

My P6810 IS NOW running eRobot ROM + SkyHigh kernel :

    P6810%20with%20eRobot%20ROM%2B%20SkyHigh%20Kernel.png

EDIT : STILL A FLAW IN THE "RECOVBERY PROCESS". SOME RECOVERIES STILL FAIL TO FLASH AND OTHERS DON'T MOUNT /RECOGNISE ALL PARTITONS. THE TWRP 6.1.0 DOES NOT BACK UP THE PRELOAD PARTTION, WHICH IS A REQUIREMENT TO RESTORE CORRECTLY.

Is it completely impossible to flash back to stock using Mobile odin from bodivas ROM?

Sent from my GT-P6810 using XDA Premium HD app

I don't know, but haven't found a way with PC Odin yet. Still a few things to try later on using old ICS 4.0.4 bootloader etc.

The only successful method so far is the Nandroid way.
