Not directed at me, but there aren't any alternative/custom sense 3.6 ICS kernels available to flash. We have to wait for HTC to publish the source code for the official thunderbolt sense ICS OTA in order for developers to be able to compile custom kernels for that release (and possibly AOSP ICS). Without source, and from what I understand, it's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to compile a fully- functional custom kernel.
Totally. Thanks for the reply, you answered question perfectly. Any idea on when HTC will release the source code? Battery life sucks on the regular battery, I have the extended one so it isn't bad, but I remember when I was rocking SH1FTS3NSE H4CK3D, along with imoseyon's lean GB kernel, mind you, I didn't have my extended battery back then, I managed to squeeze out 1d, and 16 hours of battery life with the regular battery with moderate use. I'm looking forward to that with this rom now! :P
HTC has stated in the past that according to their interpretation of the GPL is that they have up to three months after the date of an official release provide the source for said release. In the case of some devices, source has been released sooner than that, (HTC rezound ICS) but no indications on a time frame for source, besides that it will definitely be released, and that the wait won't exceed three months from the day the ICS OTA was first pushed to thunderbolts...
Santod's releases appear to be the most stable, fleshed out, daily-use to me, and I'm glad I bothered to look in this thread and find out other people agree with my assumption. I've been trying to get the stock version to work just as a less-buggy replacement for the BAMF ICS prerelease ROM that instantly reboots any time I try to use bluetooth. Although, to be fair, my experience hasn't been full of sunshine and smiles just yet...
(opinion) The InfectedROM forum is terrible on several levels... I tried three weeks ago to download the stock ROM, found I had to set up an account and their captcha is horrid, the theme color of black-on-dark-blue-and-black made everything wretched to read, and being forced to create an account to view the download links was understandable, but made the entire experience just miserable as I had issues with the account verification email. I cursed a bunch and just gave up, and today came back and found I'm able to get it working (after a half dozen tries on the captcha; gawd that's horrible!). After that was done and I managed to go in and edit my profile to the 'mobile' theme (colors are bland but better than they were, in case anyone else has some of my issues), I downloaded the deodexed debloated ROM and after factory reset and repeated wipes of caches, my phone still no longer booted up. My backup saved me from a brick, but still not sure what I messed up. Will return to it in a bit...
So, rant over, I'm still plugging at it and decided to just take a break and vent. I am genuinely happy that development is still going on for a phone that's two years old and I think like six people besides myself own it by now.
Did you flash the ics radios and follow the install instructions in the op? If you did then you shouldn't have a problem. The official release will not boot without the proper radios.

Yep, step-by-step. I've reflashed the radios several times (with the radio linked from two different ROMs) to make sure I didn't get a bad download or outdated link or something, gone through the process of wiping/formatting/etc all partitions except sdcard, installed now two ROMs (deodexed debloated stock and now Eternity, on recommendation from this thread), and even tried wiping dalvic and cache after that. I noticed in the InfectedROM thread santod spends three paragraphs saying to wait, wait and WAIT, so I thought maybe I was being impatient. I did the wipe/rewipe/format process and installed the ROM once more, then plugged it in, powered it up and went to bed. Unfortunately, after 7 hours of sleeping, my screen was still black (backlight on). I get the whole "shouldn't have a problem" idea, since no one else is having my issues. I haven't given up yet, just plugging at it and glad I have the backup to fall back on in the meantime.
EDIT:
So, first I'll apologize for sortof turning this into a Q&A; I wasn't looking for support in this thread and not looking to derail the topic (even if I did vent a little). And then, the end to my issues: Turns out when the MD5 doesn't match, nothing's gonna work. Monday I'm getting a replacement cable modem and I got the file from a friend who let me download it from his PC via TeamViewer. Thanks again to everyone who's posted in this thread about this santod's ROM, unless it fails to be as awesome as you've said, in which case I'll wish evil flaming zombie gerbils upon all your dreams.
I am looking for a New rom as well. I installed the debloated deoxed official ICS rom, however, getting sick of it as it keeps locking up on me at random times and is painfully slow when I really need it to work.
Looking for a rom that is:
Fast
Reliable
has google aps in it
Runs Netflix great
has working camera
any suggestions on that? I am looking at the ICY-S rom. Is that what I am looking for? I see the MMS problems that it has. Frankly I don't even know the last time I sent an MMS and I can download a second party program to do that. I have no problem doing that if that is all I need to have an adequate ROM that works and is fast!!
No. Go to infectedrom.com and download one of Santod's roms. UnSense sounds like it would be more to your liking. Nuborn is almost as fast but is really just sense with the rosie launcher removed. Everything works fine in both of those builds but I can promise you that once you flash one you will want to flash them all. They are really amazing roms and he works and tries really hard to make them the best that they can be.
By now, we’re all quite familiar with Tasker, the personal automation app that seems to be able to … more
