I appreciate it
and I will pm my Skype name in a moment. As of now, I am just building the stock kernel and trying to find my way around the build environment. If I can understand the process and learn more about each file then I can start doing more useful things.
Some things I need to do:
-I am not sure, but I feel it would be a good idea to understand how exactly I can make some modifications to the kernel that are more crucial than disabling the bootanimation (haha, so far that is something I have managed to do on my own.)
-One very important thing I want to try doing, for the sake of practice, is make my own patch like nxd and honk etc have done, to patch and remove the keystroke logger. I think I get the concept, but it's not gonna be quite as simple as removing the lines.
Honestly, I would rather take the advice of another on the baby steps I should take. Haha, I figure some of you fellow devs would know better than I.
Eventually, my goal is not so much to help with ginger bread, but if I have what I need to do it, try to create an ICS rom for us. (Jelly Bean seems like more of a stretch considering there was just another release. Besides, I think ICS would be smoother as a start.)
I'm dedicated, I have 2 SGS4G's now (I bought one, and my girlfriend gave me hers that has a cracked screen.) and I can use my Sidekick to practice kernel builds etc. I really should look into the UB mod to play it safe, but I have poor soldering skills. :P
