I had the same problem (SOD) till my Android (MccM MixTheme Miui 1.11.11 V1.1) completly denied booting. Had a older backup and tried another card (16GB class 6) an got SOD next morning with working alarm clock. Even calls I can answer with SOD.

Interestingly, going back to the my Sandisk, class 10, and downgrading my rom to ICS (tytung's), also solved the SODs.

edit: I've been using this configuration for 12 hours and although much more stable, it isn't 100% (ie... three spontaneous reboots under load but no SOD yet... maybe an OC setting?). I update this post when I know more.

edit2: It's not an OC setting. It's a symptom of the SD card issue that NYLimited mentioned. Downgrading to my class 4 card also solves it.

Did that, went back to the MccM Desire V2 ROM and sadly problem still recurred after 2 days

The Sandisk, class 6, card I ordered was "upgraded" to class 10 by the seller. However, the product number does end in "A11A" I will post if an SOD appears again using NexusHD2-JB-4.1.2-CM10 V1.3a - tytung's JB. It currently seems more stable than I remember it.

edit: SODs still present... although less often.

Regarding why wi-fi, I'm guessing the phone perform certain functions with wi-fi while asleep. I also remember that calender events also produce SODs. I'm betting that NAND installations don't run into these problems although someone else will have to weigh in.

Interesting, looks like I've found the problem with my SOD issues, I have the same card - this one. It's worse with some ROMs than it is with others so put it down to them rather than the card itself. I thought buying a class 10 would mean Android will run faster.

I installed a new ROM last night and have had no SOD so far but if I do need a new card would this one be ok?

That card should work well in most devices. Class 10 cards nay work reliably in some devices and not so in others. But regardless, they were designed for sequential access. For additional info please read the SD thread in my signature.
