Hey guys,
thx for all the tips, i got all apps on my fire and it works. :)

Anyway, i have a question.
Whenever the market is launched, e.g. by clicking a market link in the browser or when an other app calls the market, the amazon appstore gets opened. Is there a way to open the android market instead? Like on "normal" android phones? Simply removing the amazon market does not work, i already tried that.

Thx

Android Market on AKF in the Czech Republic

Hello,
I tried to launch Android Market on my Kindle Fire, I rooted succesfully but I can´t download File Expert (or any other application of this kind) from Amazon Store because it is not available in the Czech Republic yet - in fact I can´t download any application from Amazon Store. Is there any other way how to install any file manager in the Kindle fire without access to Amazon Store?

Calendar and contacts

I got Google apps all working just fine, but it seems like i can't get my calendar to show my calendars and I don't have my contacts syncing.
Are others having this issue? Or did I miss a step?

Market Continually crashes

I have root, I copied com.amarket.apk from gapps to system/app. I changed permissions to 644 then installed. It crashes every time. Can someone give me an idea of what I can do now to get fixed?

The best way to do it is if already have an Android phone, you can use an app like App Manager to back up the apps to your SD and transfer them from there to your Kindle.
If you can do that, try doing a Google search for the apps. Some devs have them posted as apk files. Just make sure you go into the kindles settings and allow non-market apps.

Thank you for your advice. I have .apk file but I don´t know where in Kindle Fire should I copy it and install it. There is no file manager in my Kindle Fire. Thank you.

I was searching for a week for this, because im from Romania and amazon store doesnt work also. In fact its easy. Root your device and then install Root Explorer directly on the device. Open the browser in Kindle, search for Root Explorer, download and install. It works, now my problem is that GMArket is opening but i cant install/download any app. Hope it helps!

I don't think they go over it in this thread, search around. Theres another file you need GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk and then I think you need a syncsettings app from store to actually trigger the google sync. Like I said, do a search on that apk and you should get some answers. My contacts are synched, I dont use calendar to confirm however.

I'm sure you followed the steps in the first place, mainly

"6. Change mount option from RO to RW (read-only to read-write)
Paste Vending.apk into the /system/app folder
"

Kindle Fire - Android Market

Almost certain it never was. Sideloaded from elsewhere. You grab ES explorer from kindle store, then install root explorer.

Yes and that is a big problem for me because Amazon Market is not available in my country. I have Root explorer .apk but I can not install it because I can not grab ES from Amazon store. Is there any solution? Please help....

Open up your browser and fill in the location to your apk file in the address bar like so:
Code:
file:///mnt/sdcard/Download/Vending.apk
where "mnt/sdcard/Download/Vending.apk" is the path to the file you're trying to install.

There was a silent update pushed by Amazon that breaks market.
    Don't Panic!
Fixing it is a breeze if you've already done it once. Just re-follow these instructions to get your market back up and working. Once again, Props go to Bandage for writing these easy to understand and follow instructions.

    Prerequisites

    Root your Kindle Fire

    Download the following apks
    GoogleServicesFramework.apk
    Vending.apk (Latest Version 3.3.11)
See HERE for .apk downloads (complete GApps zip file)

Root Explorer App (or similar that lets you change ro/rw permissions)

Side Loading Apps activated on Kindle Fire
On the Kindle Fire Settings screen, go to “Device” and turn On “Allow Installation of Application From Unknown Sources”

    Instructions

    1. Transfer the .apk files to your Kindle Fire via PC / Mac (remember where you put them)

    2. Open Root Explorer App, and navigate to the transferred .apk files

    3. Select the GoogleServiceFramework.apk and install

    4. When complete, click "Done" and return to the file location for Vending.apk

    5. Long-press Vending.apk and select the "Move" option on pop-up menu
    Navigate to /system/app folder

    6. Change mount option from RO to RW (read-only to read-write)
Paste Vending.apk into the /system/app folder

    7. Long-press Vending.apk and select "Permissions" from pop-up menu
Change permissions to match all other apps in this folder (rw-r--r--)

    8. Install Vending.apk

    9. Reboot your Kindle Fire

Once reboot is complete, select Market App and log-in as usual.
    Enjoy!

You will most likely notice some familiar apps missing from the market, as this device is lacking certain hardware specifications. However, once custom ROMs start appearing for the Kindle Fire, it is a safe bet it will no longer be the case.

Also, the Market App will not show up in the default Amazon Launcher.
You will need to install an alternate launcher (ie Go Launcher EX, ADW).
    Find instructions HERE.
For another option than installing an alternate option, check out this work around also!

    Market Opener

I wanted to be able to use the market via the Kindle UI, so I threw together an app that has a market icon and just launches the market. Since some others were wanting to do the same I figured I'd share:

    http://munday.ws/kindlefire/MarketOpener.apk

This does not install the market or make it work, that's all up to you. It just launches the already installed market app. If you don't have the market installed, it will just tell you that it can't find the market.

Here's a screenshot to show what the icon looks like:

One important note to installing market with full functionality...

You must move the .apk to system/apps and set permissions correctly, BEFORE installing it. It will continue to FC if you just install it like a traditional .apk.

Do this, and report back...make sure you uninstall any previous installations first....then reboot, then install as I instructed.

Where can I download the current calendar apk?

Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk

We haven't gotten calendar to work yet.

---------- Post added at 03:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:13 AM ----------

Got the calendar working!!! Had to copy googlecalendarsyncadapter.apk to /system/app, and then just installed the calendar apk, rebooted, and bam. calendar working and syncing. will post apks when i get a minute.. definitely need root for this tho.

    EDIT: APKs Attached

googlecalendarsyncadapter.apk - copy to /system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r-- (reboot, maybe required?)
calendar.apk - install like any other apk
    2
What permissions should the APK be set to?

same as the rest of the apps listed there
    rw-r--r--
