Now even I'm having problems with 6.0.0.8. Can't navigate to subdirectories beneath /emmc/ (the removable sdcard is "emmc"), like /emmc/roms/. When I copy a file to /emmc via adb shell, CWM quits with a mysterious message about being unable to find the device for /emmc.

Flashing files from /sdcard (internal storage) works fine. Very strange. /emmc is the removable sdcard, which is FAT formatted... I suppose it could be corrupt, as FAT often is.

Hmm...

Happened to me too. If flashing from external sdcard, the file not found error will occur. I think it changed the name of the zip file somehow.

what happened:

1. i copied cm-9-20120719-UNOFFICIAL-p6200.zip into external sdcard
2. in cwm, it shows the file name as: emmc-cm-9-20120719-UNOFFICIAL-p6200.zip
3. there's an extra emmc on the filename

Using Mobile Odin simply place the .tar.md5 in the recovery field and flash away!

Edit: There's something wrong with the .tar.md5 you posted for Odin for the 6210. I got an error about partitions when I tried to load it in Mobile Odin. I downloaded the .img file instead and went ahead and created a .tar.md5 from it. I was able to load the new .tar.md5 I created into Mobile Odin to flash the updated CWM. Thanks for this! Here's the mediafire download for the new .tar.md5 I used to flash:

How to make *.tar.md5 from *.img to flash via Odin?
Please help me!

oya right... i use windows 8 64 bit... maybe that's the problem

In heimdall suite, run drivers/zadig.exe, click Options, stick list all devices. Choose gadget serial, then winUSB....driver and Replace Driver. Heimdall will work good with no error.

Mobile Odin != Odin

First things first, Mobile Odin is different than Odin. Odin is an leaked tool from Samsung. Mobile Odin is an application someone wrote. I know they both have the word "Odin" in the name, but they are not related.

Second, Mobile Odin can flash the .img files just fine, but apparently you have the name the file "recovery.img" or else it won't see it. It seems to recognize any file which ends in ".md5" though. That's annoying.

Third, I don't know if the md5'd images are a requirement for Odin. Are they actually required to make "Odin" tarballs? Has anyone tried just tarring an image and flashing it? I tried to get Odin working in my Windows VM today and I got lost in drivers and ended up wanting to shoot myself in the face.

Download links for ClockworkMod 6.0.1.0

Here are some download links for CWM 6.0.1.0, which has a few important fixes (including the weird emmc "missing slash" bug from 6.0.0.8):

P6200/P6201/P6200L: Mediafire (md5: 4554f940ac0064dba3e1c5e12469efd2)
P6210/P6211/P6210L: Mediafire (md5: e71feb63ee44a7e809b6c2e7ae6d6e7d)

Flash from Heimdall. I still suck at making Odin images, maybe Vivified can make (and test), then I'll mirror them.

I couldn't get adb to work on cwm 6.0.1.0. Device registers as mtp and not as adb in Windows 7 64bit so I can't regularly install the driver.

It works fine In CWM 5.0.2.7.

Hmm, I can't remember if I have used adb on CWM 6.0.1.0. I'll try when I get home. :)

Edit: adb works fine in recovery for me. I use it quite often actually, to `adb push` files to /emmc/ before flashing, as well as `adb reboot download` etc. I wonder what's up with yours? I'm on Linux, for the record.

Sorry, maybe it is just my windows or maybe it is with windows users in general. I think I tried all different combinations with no success. It would be great if someone else can check it.

Flashed latest version using heimdall in Windows 64, no issues. Thanks aorth..
Doing backup now..to inserted micro-sd. Which it calls 'internal sd'.
Much slower than earlier when it was to internal sd. I guess it has to do with the fact that mine is Class 4 micro-sd....?

    Intro

garyd9 originally ported ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.0.x to the Tab 7 Plus (all variants) in late 2011. Gary's since moved on to bigger and better things, and so has ClockworkMod Recovery. As of ClockworkMod Recovery version 6.0.0.x backups and restores should be faster, take up less space (due to file-level deduplication), and there's a swanky new look (though a bit iOS-y).

    wtf is "recovery" anyways?
Recovery mode is a minimal, alternative mode of booting which allows you to install software from zip files, backup/restore your device, and perform low-level operations like factory reset and formatting partitions. All Android devices have a recovery mode (it's part of the stock AOSP environment), but the default recovery mode is very limited. For example, it only allows you to flash zips which have been signed by the vendor's private key.

ClockworkMod Recovery was developed by Koushik Dutta (@koush), and is much more flexible... If you want to flash CyanogenMod, you MUST have a non-stock recovery. Right now that means ClockworkMod Recovery.

    Flashing with Heimdall
I recommend flashing with Heimdall; it's open source and cross platform, whereas Odin is a leaked internal tool from Samsung, and only works on Windows. I absolutely cannot give guidance on using Odin. As of this time I recommend using Heimdall 1.3.1 (1.3.2 has a known bug which prevents flashing some files from completing successfully).

You can use the GUI (heimdall-frontend), or flash from the command line. In Linux it's easy:
    1. Unplug your tablet from USB
    2. Turn your tablet off
    3. Hold Volume Down and press the power button, keep holding Volume Down for 5 seconds
    4. Plug your tablet back into the computer
    5. Type:
      Code:
      sudo heimdall flash --recovery p6200-clockworkmod-6.0.2.7.img

After that you should now have ClockworkMod Recovery installed.

    Booting into CWM
There are a few ways to get into ClockworkMod Recovery:

    • Using adb, type: adb reboot recovery
    • From CyanogenMod's power menu: hold down the Power button for a few seconds, then navigate to Reboot -> Recovery.
    • With the tablet off, hold Volume Up and press power, keep holding Volume Up for 5 seconds

    Disclaimer
I've tested backing up and restoring to CM9 and stock a few times, and it seems to work well. But please back up your stuff with other applications, like Go Backup or Titanium Backup just in case something goes wrong with restoring.

I have successfully flash the .img on my P6200 using Heimdall WINDOWS version.

    what i did was:
    1. Download and extract Heimdall Suite 1.3.1 win32. I extracted the folder to C:
    2. Download the clockworkmod heimdall flashable image & put it in the same folder as hemidall suite. (mine was p6200-clockworkmod-6.0.0.8.img)
    3. Put my P6200 into download mode (power + volume down) & plugged it in.
    4. Install the driver using zadig.exe as noted in the readme. BUT for me, P6200 usb driver is stated as Gadget Serial in the list. (not samsung usb composite)
    5. Open up command prompt and run as administrator and cd to the Heimdall folder directory. (mine was C:/heimdall)
    6. type: heimdall detect
    7. make sure it says device detected
    8. then, type: heimdall flash --recovery p6200-clockworkmod-6.0.0.8.img
    9. done and my tab reboots.
