We need the drivers, right?
Maybe a last resort would be to craft and build ths drivers from scratch.....

try out this, work for me www . box . com/s/8abbdebbf6d6f79ec48d

Just delete the spaces inbetween, as I post not enough i'm forbidden to post external links.
However, this link helped me to follow the instructions and now my 7e is rooted and has marketplace and I also solve the memory problem. Many thanks for that great help to make the 7e much more usable. I also should point out that I use the Strato branded 7e and change nothing on it, just install gingerbreak and then cope the apk's and thats it.

Still "insufficient memory" when downloading from Market

Hi there,

managed to root my Viewpad 7e using GingerBreak and installed GooglePlay.

But still have the problem not being able to download any app from the market. Always getting the "insufficient memory" error message.
Cleared the market´s cache - not change.

Any idea on that?

kindest regards

The same here.......

Hello:
at very first thanks for the great explanation. Everything worked fine for me. The only thing that also bothers me is this weird problem as happen to me. Every time the viewpad 7e is in sleep mode, in about 20 min they automaticaly restart. When I use the viewpad 7e normaly (for example play games, navigate web and download apps of the store) nothing happen...
This is normal?
My device is a stock viewpad 7e (2.3.1 os), only i have a rooted with gingerbreak and place the google and syncronisation files with rootexplorer and delete some apps from the sys folder (ask, ask search, and others apps what are bundled with the device)
Thanks in advance for the answer....

CacheFixer worked for me!

Many thanks!
Managed to install CacheFixer (as it wasn´t downloadable via the AndroidPIT Market) via my Android phone.

Moving the cache worked so far!

A good hint for all other users!

aiksoon

go download this file from this link:
dl.dropbox.com/u/34743606/v7e.zip
put those five files onto the micro sd card
Step 1:
settings>applications>unknown sources>tick it
settings>applications>development> USB debugging> tick it
Step 2:
Go to the inbuilt app ES File Explorer
find the GingerBreakv1.20.apk
install the GingerBreakv1.20.apk (I installed it on mine but it made my micro sd card useless i dunno what was with this but it still got gingerbreak on it it just made card die so use at your own risk =_= it still install it fine tho might of been a defect of a cheap card)
Root the device by going through the steps
When you complete the steps you should see Superuser in your applications
Go back to ES File Explorer
Find Root Explorer v2.14.2.apk
Install Root Explorer v2.14.2.apk
Click allow for permissions for the Root Explorer
Once you have Root explorer installed open it and fine the folder sd card

Press and hold the Vending.apk until the menu pops up and choose copy
go back to Root Explorer
go to system
go into app
on the top press Mount R/W
and then press the paste button on the bottom
Find where you pasted Vending.apk
Hold Vending.apk for the menu and press permissions
Make sure all the columns are ticked and select OK
once you get to this step you should see the market icon but you're not done yet you need to go through the same thing you did for Vending.apk for GoogleServicesFramework.apk and MarketUpdater.apk
and you should get it i'll paste the chinese website the author posted pictures

limited google play apps on viewpad 7e after doing all e steps recommended by charlie

Hi,

I have successfully installed the market, now its call google play ver 3.5.16. However compare to my motorola backflip which is running gingerbread 2.3.4 and viewpad 10s running on viewcomb 7.2, the google play store on my viewpad 7e only display very little apps, abt 20 each category while the list of apps on backflip's google play and viewpad 10s' s google play store are so many, almost non-exhausive. Can someone kindly enlighten or advise. Thank you in advance.

Regards
Aiksoon

I have spend many hours (days) on trying to get access into this thing with no success. If we can get to the boot loader maybe we can do what was done on the Sony X10 and load a custom rom on top. I will look into this but don't think it will work since we would still need adb access in order to load the files needed.

We need some better developers then me to look into this tablet to see if access is even possible.

i know, it's an old thread, but maybe the following tipps are usefull to get clockworkmod installed on the viewpad 7e:

first look here, how to use adb with the 7e. i tried it and it worked...

at this site you can find the firmware-update. it is very easy to install via sd-card and it is also very easy to modify the firmware
before flashing it (for example: delete apps and add google market). here is a guide with video-tutorial (german) to modify the firmware-image and install google play store without root.

maybe with this informations and this guide, how to install clockworkmod on the viewpad 7, it will be easier to find a solution for the 7e!

it would be great to have recovery on 7e!!!
incidentally... is there any solution for the market at this time. it's really annoying that not even the superuser update can be made on the market, because the pad, according to the market, is supposedly not compatible.
Nevertheless, some remedy you can afford in which we change in the build.prob following values:

13.And for user who want you can mod the build.prop to enable gameloft games and have a lower screen density.
To do it launch Root Explorer go to -> /system and enable R/W option ( button at the top)
14. find build.prop file and long press on it
15. and select open in text editor
16. find and change

ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.manufacturer=Samsung
ro.sf.lcd_density=140

I know that this is an old thread but I was so elated when I found this site. This was because I tried the other solution I could find on the web called SuperOneClick which didn't work - it stopped running at "waiting for device".

However, my happiness was short-lived for the following reasons:

1. When I installed GingerBreak-v1.20.apk, my AVG anti-virus, though in "force stop" mode, tells me "Installed package: eu.chainfire.gingerbreak is infected". I ignored this message and installed it anyway.

2. When I installed Root Explorer v2.14.2.apk, it only asks me for permission to "Allow this application to: Storage - modify/delete SD card contents" and nothing else. I ticked this option and installed the program anyway.

3. I copied Vending.apk and went into "/system/app". On the top, the display says "171.00MB used, 26.00MB free, r/o, Mount R/W". I pressed on "Mount R/W" button. It showed orange while it was pressed. When I pressed "Paste" button below, "Warning - You cannot paste here because the file system is read-only.

So I got stuck at Step 3 above and could not proceed any further. Could anyone help me out, please? :crying:
