Good day guys.

I need help in rooting this phone.
I've been trying to do that three-button combo to get in to recovery, but every time I do, the phone just boots straight to Android.

Is there any other way to get to the recovery menu?
By the way, the Vol_Down button is damaged, it cannot be used.

It should be possible to reboot into recovery via adb or in a terminal app.. But I would advice against it as there is no way to navigate in the recovery menu with a broken volume button.

Unfortunately, the phone isn't rooted yet so I think the terminal app is a no-go.
ADB could work, I'll read around to see if it can work with a non-root phone.
I don't think the volume button would be a problem (if it's anything like CWM where it can loop scroll then yey me), I just need the phone to be rooted so I can install a temporary CWM. This, in turn, will allow me to flash ICS on it.

Thanks so much for the summarization of the all the development. Just found this device in my girlfriend's stash. Says she used to use it for a while long while back. At last I have an old device to play with! And, oh God! I love the GB look so much. The stupid play services update screws up everything. I guess I'll live with F-droid on this.

Cheers to dev!
