Basically I downloaded the zip and have just flashed over the original stock room via odin without rooting, so to double check if I need to do a hard reset from the phone can I or am I at risk of bricking it?

There have been quite a few cases of bricks while factory resetting from system menu.

For all those having confusions regarding rooting, flashing or bricking devices -

PLEASE DO NOT EMPLOY TRIAL AND ERROR METHODS. If wiping worked for one person doesnt mean it won't harm the other and vice versa.

I strongly recommend that you read this -
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1659768

Sorry if I seem like publicizing, but I have personally compiled everything (guides + updates + latest news) in a toolbar released today. You can find the link in my signature.

Hope it is useful to you.

Has anyone been able to resolve the nulnull keyboard issue with stock ICS?

Aye, you have the wrong CSC file.
The Odin (seemingly) does not flash the cache partition correctly.
Thry heimdal and flash only the cache. I resolved it that way.

Additionally, how to you wipe the dalvik cache? I wiped the cache, but it did not help (still have the issue with "/" in dialer)

guys,

I just need an answer on this.... How do you get back or resume a "cancelled later" OTA update?

Here's the scenario.. I just got an OTA update on my International Note. But unfortunately, It came at a point where it happened in the middle of our office meeting, so henceforth, I cancelled that proverbial OTA update... and I told it to remind me 3 hours after.

Now it's been over 4 hours already and I still haven't got that OTA notification back.

I have been freaking waiting it to come back and so far I got zilch on where I can get that darn OTA update back....

Is there any suggestions you can give me on how to get that OTA update popup /notification back on my Note again??

I have been tinkering and restarting my phone back over and over but still got no notification on that much anticipated OTA update...

:( :( :(

Nah, I bet Samsung removed all the tablet framework from ICS before putting TouchWizz in.. Besides, IIRC there were couple of users who tried to set DPI @213 but ended up with bootloop

    just to remind people:

right now nobody knows if Sammy changes bootloader with ICS (as they did with crappy I9100-FW!)....so just be aware that there might be problems to flash back on any other firmware or Custom ROM after you updated via KIES or ODIN. That does not necessarily mean it will be, but it might :)

Maybe someone who already flashed it can test....

But i will try to build CWM-flashable zip anyway - and this will be WITHOUT bootloader and save to flash

EDIT: it is save to flash also with KIES and ODIN!

Easy root method, no counter, no triangle, no hassle

Just to let you all know there is another easy root method. It fits the needs of those who don't want to increase binary counter and want to avoid that annoying triangle, I mean, don't want to flash an alternative kernel... or aren't rooted already and, consequently, aren't able to use Mobile Odin.

    What you will need:

Once you have flashed official LPY (via Odin or Kies) and ICS is up & running...
    • Copy the files you've downloaded to the external SD
    • Turn SGNote off
    • Hold Volume Up and Menu keys down and press power button til Sammy's logo shows up
    • Use Volume Down to highlight "apply update from external storage" option
    • Press power button to select
    • Use Volume Down to highlight CWM.zip
    • Press power button to select
    • Wait few seconds til ClockWorkMod shows up
    • Tap on "install zip from sdcard"
    • Tap on "choose zip from internal sdcard"" (don't ask me why! ;))
    • Tap on SU-Installer-signed.zip
    • Tap on Yes - Install SU-Installer-signed.zip
    • Wait a couple of ms
    • Tap on "Go Back"
    • Tap on "reboot system now"

Done!!! You're rooted, no counter, no triangle, no alternative kernel, no hassle! ;)

CREDITS GO TO Rachmat3 @ http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 ... I just tested the above mentioned root method on Galaxy Note LPY.
