Ok, re-enabled and disabled it again, no change.

I would like to have it behave as you have!

What version of the dock do you have, under about?

I have EC20N-0207

I bought it as a whole together with the tablet (one nice box )

I never updated to the latest .30 update, which also updated the dock firmware (mine is TF201-DOCK-0207). Maybe the .30 firmware "broke" the functionality...

I'm assuming that you did the .30 OTA update?

Yes, but it was the same with the .26 firmware which I flashed immediately after the purchase (when I first got access to Wifi).

Also I bought the dock as part of the TF700, so it's not a TF201 dock in that sense.

As a new owner I was pretty disappointed with the stability out of the box. Mine crashed at least 4 times on the first day. Now I have a custom ROM on it and have tweaked it , things are better although I'm still less than pleased with the battery life.
This where Apple really shines with the average consumer as you boot it up and 99 times out 100 it works exactly as you expect it. Maybe this is because Android is a relatively new tablet OS and hopefully things will improve - heck maybe even JB will sort out my issues.

As far as I notice the FC's are predictable and not random. But you're right about Apple's experience, for which you get a closed of ecosystem in return and all prices are premium - nice for the noobs but not sufficient for power users in my opinion. About running custom rom's: The TouchWiz experience on the SGS2 was just apalling, so that had to be replaced. But Asus' ROM is pretty lean and Titanium Backup let's you throw out a lot annoying stuff. And besides, I'd like to retain my 24 months waranty for now (unless custom roms that really add a lot to the experience start appearing I'll just stick to that).

I did find out yesterday when changing my home network that the TF series do not support 5GHz WiFi... I was not expecting that and find it a bit of a letdown (still would buy the TF though.)
