That would explain why it didn't work for me. Are there any plans in the works for GingerBread support? It still is the most used version of Android after all.

Is there any other way to do this without Xposed? It causes memory leak, battery drain and lag.

None of these issue has been found by me and other users..maybe the root of your problem is another app..

Just search lag in the xposed thread... you'll see.

You can try to edit the build.prop.
Add this line
sys.keep_app_1=com.android.contacts
to lock contacts for example. Look at /data/data/ to find out the right app description.
