You have to change build prop by using root exployer ..go to system/ and make sure RW IS ON...open build.prop as text editor....then add those two build probs at the bottom of the build list..

hit back button and save it...then reboot.....then let your phone sit for like 10-20min and open cpuspy it should then show deep sleep was activated....it helps me and saves battery

Do I have to use root explorer to edit the build.prop? Is there a free app that I could use to enable deep sleep? With my CPU Spy, it currently states that deep sleep is not enabled (very similar to OP).
