Since an OTA update to kitkat 4.4.2 my battery life has become terrible.

I used to get two days of standby and now After 6-8 hours I am down to 50%

Is this normal? KitKat was allegedly going to slightly improve battery life. :(

Any suggestions?

I have tried multiple reboots and allowed it to run flat a couple of times since the update which I think was now 3 - 4 days ago.

Thanks

After removing skype things are a bit better but with hardly any use I am still on 49% battery after 9 hours unplugged.

Any other tips on what I can do?

Is there any way to "roll back" from kitkat without losing my data in a re flash?

Mine did that too, I could watch it drain...

Wipe data and cache in recovery (factory reset)

Drop a .nomedia file in all folders not containing video/audio/pictures you need in mediaplayers (incl alarmclocks&ringtones). Do this for phone and SD. Subfolders are excluded by nomedia file in their main directory. You can copy-paste one from another folder.

Scan your phone and sdcard on your computer for 0kb files (select filesize to 0kb or search for size:empty) and delete them. Leave the playlists and nomedia files alone.

Turn off all sounds under settings >sounds>system sounds.

That did the trick for me, back to 1% per 10 hours in deep sleep.
