I finally got everything working also here in Finland (2G, 3G etc). Haven't try MMS yet but should be ok. I try to list all needed steps but forgive me if i don't remember everything, this was a long process and lot of try and error :(

- This is what i did for my HTC J Butterfly (HTL21)
1. S-Off by revone method with help from HTCSoku web site
2. Flash Taiwan radio (x920d) and TW rom port for HTL21
- this will help for sim lock but 2G still failed
3. Take backup from /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 using dd, remember you need to be su
4. Using htcsokudev/2012device/deluxe_j/simfree/ guide and adding both imei and meid from original file to CIDblockUB1
5. Write this new file to mmcblk0p5 using dd
6. Flash eng hboot 1.39
7. Change ModelD using fastboot oem rebootRUU > fastboot writemid PL9911
8. Flash stock TW rom PL99IMG_DLXB1_U_JB_45_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.12.707.1_R_Radio_3A.22.306.10_10.07.1060.04D_release_signed
9. Flash CWM recovery image again
10. Flash X920d_HTC_Butterfly_Sense_5.1_Leak_2.02.709.1_water_mark_delete ROM
11. Flash latest radio image 3A.24.306.14._10.12.1060.10L

I am not sure if all these steps are really required but in my case this worked. Now i should have almous full x920d and it seems to work fine. :victory:

Hello,
I purchased HTC J Butterfly in Japan. Actually in AU they told me that it was Sim Free. but after coming back home (Georgia) I am trying to use my local GSM card, but it says here is no SIM in device.
Can anybody tell me how can I fix this problem please.

thank you

I must login to fix some wrong when u typing:
- "fastboot writemid PL9911" ---> You must change to "fastboot oem writemid PL9911000" ----> without 000 you cant update ota with stock asia wwe
- the phone become international x920d at step flash stock so you need no flash mod rom, I realy fell good with my Stock intenational Butterfly with water resitance.

PS: Thanks U so much, without U i really scare to flash stock WWE rom...

Obviously...

Question was how to buy in Japan without knowing Japanese language with option to order and ship it to North America after. Need some web pages where I can easy order in eng or peoples contacts who can help buy one.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the unlock, most English-speaking sellers who deal in Japanese phones aren't willing to deal in these (unlocking requires S-Off, a new radio, and a new ROM- there are easier unlocks out there). I bought mine from a phone shop in Japan (I speak enough Japanese to get that done) and just spent most of last night unlocking the darn thing myself on the flight back to the US. To say it's difficult is an understatement- it's a multi-step procedure.

Also, to the person from Georgia, that's also a normal response from the phone if it hasn't been unlocked yet- it treats every non-AU SIM as if there was nothing inside.
