You making connector for the contacts near SIM connector?
Not needed making this.
Need make connector for inside contacts.
Outside contacts not present on Atom.
Using only inside contacts on your Atom.
Open your device and look near Camera button.

Brick ATOM - Red light when insert batt

hi all,

My atom now cannot be boot and not even the bootloader mode. It happen when I press Camera+Reset without removing the miniSD. I didn't copy any rom into my SD but is there when i bought this device.

I read the wiki about the Semi-Brick simpton and I tried the method Hold Camera+Reset then insert batt but it doesn't work.

If I'm going to follow this thread by custom make the cable, any success experience ? Also, please confirm if is true only the Inside contact workable for ATOM or i can do outside contact ? I'm confuse aftere reading this thread.

thanks for help.

Method does not work in Atom Life.
Method full functionally working in Atom, Atom Exec, Rover G5, Orsio n725.
For restoring bootloader on Atom, using only inside JTAG contacts.

First of all, I have Atom Pure with GSM signal problem. It won't find any signal, not even for making emergency call. So, I tried fo fixing it by reflashing it with another Atom rom I can find. Since I can't achieve any progress with regular flashing ( using RUU ), I tried to flahsed it with mini SD card method. Here when disaster began, I tried to rename the update rom file and put it in mini SD. And that's when my bootloader died.

And now I can revive my Atom again, thanks to alex_beda and 1stMASTER

The proccess are straight through, the only drawback I had was making the connector for JTAG inside Atom.

I find the flashing program ttle bit different with alex_beda & 1stMASTER discribe in here.
I find my self getting :

"43% block are set to zero"
"Do you want to save time by not programming bla bla ? (y/n)"

Sorry for " bla bla ", I don't remember the exact phrase.

And I don't get 6% error when running update program ( using RUU in bootloader mode )

Now, my Atom works just like exactly before, with no GSM signal :(

Btw, I just share my experience with every one here, and give my Big thank to alex_beda and 1stMASTER to make this method available. THANK YOU !!!

@ alex_beda
Since you and your friend have expert knowledge regarding Atom, would you please help me to figure out why my Atom won't find any GSM signal ?
FYI, when I run the update program, in burn radio stack image, I notice in Atom screen shows:
" MOT Sync Fail "
" MOT Sync OK "
Do you think I have Locked version ?
I'll appreciate all the answer I could get. Thank you

Now the message is shown as this:
PXA27x revision ??
Failed to read the Flash ID. Retrying 4 more times...
Failed to read the Flash ID. Retrying 3 more times...
Failed to read the Flash ID. Retrying 2 more times...
Failed to read the Flash ID. Retrying 1 more times...
Failed to read the Flash ID. Retrying 0 more times...
Cannot open input file: Flash_0_2_32.dat

This program supports flash devices defined by DAT files
contained in the same directory as the executable program.

If the file cannot be opened, there are four possibilities:

1 - The flash device installed is not supported.
2 - The flash device is a licensed product.
3 - The device ID could not be read, resulting in a poorly
constructed filename. The first numeric value in the
filename is the device ID. Verify this value with the
component specification.
4 - The memory bus is not functional. Check all CPLD and FPGA
devices. Make sure that you are using the correct
platform data file.
why?

    Symptoms:
The device is not switching on, not entering bootloader.
(most often after the firmware from a memory card)
    React to connect charger.
if the battery insert and connect charger, it orage led must be lit .
if the battery remove and connect charger, it orange led must be flashing.
There is only one way for restore bootloader.
Reflashing flash memory in the PXA272 using JTAG.
This procedure consists of two parts.
Hardware (making cable for reflashing) and software (reflashing).

    Hardware part:

This pinouts JTAG of Atom Exec, Rover G5, Orsio n725, O2 Atom, O2 Atom Exec
At O2 Atom (not Exec) is the only internal contacts. Located near the Camera button.
    JTAGroverorsio.jpg

There are contacts inside the device, near the buttons CAMERA,
for access them, you need to open device.
There are contacts from the outside, near the SIM connector.
    All contacts is working
For inside contacts need this connector

    http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc23/alex_beda/vidobsh.jpg
    Software part.
    http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/RepairBootLoader.zip
In attached file is the programm JFlashmm,
in the same directory BOOTLOADER from АТОМ ЕХЕС (ebo_a.nb0) from First Firmware,
and driver the giveio needed for working cable.
If you have O2 Atom (not ЕХЕС), it must be in the folder jflash_mm Deleted file ebo_a.nb0,
copyng the file boot.nb0 from O2 Atom firmware in the jflash_mm folder and renaming this file in ebo_a.nb0.

Before connecting LPT connector , you want to press and hold
micro button near to the sim connector.
    http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc23/alex_beda/knopka.jpg
For example: sticker on the button.
Ground from LPT connector, connecting on ground the device
    (using the crocodile connector)
    http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc23/alex_beda/ground.jpg
Connect cable to LPT port of PC.
    Connect charge to the device
    Orange LED is blinking.
    If LED not blinking,
    Check pressed the micro button.
    check fixation the button.
Installing the driver giveio from attached file.
    Now you can restore BootLoader.
BootLoader needs to be restored in two places.
Need boot flashing to adress 0 and address 3f400.
In folder jflash_mm there is a file start.bat.
    Inside this file:
    jflashmm pxa27x32 ebo_a.nb0 P 0 PAR
    jflashmm pxa27x32 ebo_a.nb0 P 3F40000 PAR

So file ebo_a.nb0 (boot from атом exec) will be flashing in two places,
To adress 0 and adress 3f40000, data send to parallel port.
Execute start.bat, if all right , you correct making cable,
    it must detect processor.
If message screen on "file *.DAT not find", press Soft Reset.
the program will ask you «bla-bla-bla» Y/N? Press Y

hi,all atom user that have broblems by dead bootloader

My atom daed bootloader after i do flash via mini SD.I tried anyway but cant.finally i success with Manual to restore dead BootLoader by use JTAG methode. For this methode i have some own experiens with
    I note that
1,must be sure with EBo_a.nb0 file ( if your device is atom it must be eboot.nb0 file for atom or atom pure, dont try with another eboot.nb0 as atome life or HP device)
2,Your PC should be run is window XP FAT32(becuase i tried run start.bat with NTFS but it cant)
3,Make sure with hardware for do with this JTAT methode( i have some picture that found ,maybe can help)

I have a very similar problem on my O2 Xda Denim, which actually came with a windows mobile pro 6.
    It shows all these symptoms
when connected via USB orange light flashes,
    remove battery it still flashes
and when i switch on the device green light flashes and it shows a screen O2 welcome thats it.

very similar to the problem listed above

Can I use the same method...? (I'm a Begginer. Never did anything like this before)
If yes, Is there a simpler method?(or something like more automated? though I would go for this method if there aren't any)
Chaitanya, your O2 seem to have live bootloader, so u dont need to do this steps, probably only your OS is dead. Try to use minisd flash method to flash OS only ,read on forums how to do that. This steps are nessesary only for totaly dead devices, ie. when you press power button nothing happen after bad bootloader flash etc.

    bye
