DIY OTG Question

Just got a new Nikon D610 and there are a bunch of cool apps that use OTG to connect to the camera. Camera uses a mini USB port to connect to things.

My question is, can I just make a mini USB male to micro USB male cable and not bother with the full size female part?

Yes as long as you short pins 4 and 5 it will trigger your phone to enter host mode
