... Just to be sure. The tabletUI zip I made doesn't work on the latest version of SentinelROM 4.10?

I tried both your tabletUI zip for v4.00 and made my own with AutoPatcher. On SentinelROM v4.10, yours hung during boot up and the other did nothing as far as I can tell. Of course I cleared cache ... etc and reinstalled SentinelROM v4.10 before attempting either patch.

Right now I am using SentinelROM v4.10 with the openPDroid and tabletUI patch I created with AutoPatcher but only openPDroid is working. As of yet I have not seen a reason to backup the patch.

Are you sure you are flashing the latest GAPPS package from the link provided in the OP?

I tested this about 5 times before releasing the ROM and never had any issues after flashing GAPPS. The only exception being Google Maps, which is updated regularly, so it's better to just download from the play store.

I flashed that gapps file and everything is working except for the Play Store. It force closes every time.

Did you wipe system cache and dalvik cache after installing GAPPS?

If you're still having problems, back up your user apps with titanium and do a factory reset, then restore user apps with titanium again.

Hi all. brGabriel sent me a pm that you guys were having trouble with the auto-patcher tabletUI mod for this rom. In reading over the last few pages of the thread I think (I hope!) that I see the problem:
brGabriel,

FYI when I created a tabletUI patch using "Auto-Patcher Utility" v2.8.4 (latest version), for this new v4.10 ROM, the tabletUI it did not seem to work for me. The same autopatcher utility did work for openPDriod and this latest ROM.

Oh well I assume it will all be straightened out in the fullness of time.
The latest version of Auto-Patcher is 2.8.8 and the changes that enabled tabletUI to work on large screen tablets were pulled in for version 2.8.7.
@3DSammy: When you used 2.8.4 were the tabletUI updated zips created successfully, but when flashed the UI looked the same as before, no tabUI? Probably, I think.
I downloaded the latest version of this rom (4.10) and used the newest version of auto-patcher to produce the zips attached here, but I don't have a nexus 10 to test them on, (unfortunately for me;)).

Sentinel410-manta-20130329-tabletUI.zip
Sentinel410-manta-20130329-restore.zip
(These are just in my Dropbox for now. If they do in fact work, If someone else could mirror them I would appreciate it.:good:)

If someone could test these and confirm whether they work or not I will at least know if I need to revisit the CM tabletUI patches. Oh yeah, that's the other thing I noticed while patching with auto-patcher: It sees this rom as AOSP (I've seen this with other custom CM roms), so you need to set auto-patcher to patch as CM or it will not use the right set of patches. Anyone trying to make tabUI zips for future releases of this rom should keep this in mind.:silly:

Good luck:fingers-crossed:, because I know how ridiculous the new UI is, especially on 10" tablets. What's google thinking:confused:

I wiped them before I installed GAPPS. I'll do a reset tonight

I'll try this in a few hours I'm not with my n10. I love testing stuff. The new ui is ridiculous. Thanks for the possible fix.

(Update)
I just ran home and flashed it and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the actual fix.

Nicely done, Caldair! Glad that you pointed out to specify cm when patching the ROM. I noticed this the first time I made a patch for Sentinel, but didn't think to suggest this to 3DSammy. That certainly explains why it didn't work. :highfive:

Stock launcher won't work but try nova launcher if you don't like trebuchet.

... The latest version of Auto-Patcher is 2.8.8 and the changes that enabled tabletUI to work on large screen tablets were pulled in for version 2.8.7. ...
I finally have the tabletUI installed on SentinelROM 4.10, it was tricker than I had assumed. First I was using this post as my guide:
[Utility][2.8.3][03/01] Auto-Patcher (4.2.2): http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1719408

The link to "techerrata Download" only has Autopatcher v2.8.7 which was not likely a problem but helped me go down the rabbit hole when things did not work as expected.

I finally used the git link and downloaded the very latest AutoPatcher. Unfortunitely my issues did not stop there. I created a patch that contained openProid and tabletUI which still did not implement the tabletUI. The autopatcher output seemed to show that the tableUI patch was created.
> ./auto_patcher sentinelrom_v4_10_manta.zip openpdroid,tabletUI cm

I finally got what I wanted by using the downloadable tabletUI patch from the OP and created a seperate openPDroid patch then applied them each separately.

I assume my Autopatcher dual patch command line is wrong so this is likely just "user error". Still I'm happy as I have all that I need.

Thanks to all who helped.

Id try that first, but if you're still having problems you'll need to factory reset.

I've seen that happen before when I was tweaking the SystemUI.apk during testing, but I can't replicate it with this ROM, and no-one else has reported the issue, so my best guess is that there's something some sort of conflicting files somewhere.

    details.png

This ROM has been built to enhance the CyanogenMod 10.2 experience, with faster gaming and web browsing performance (no choppyness in Chrome too!).

Countless hours have been spent making tweaks to settings to squeeze the most performance I can find out of this ROM while still providing excellent battery life and without the dangers of overclocking and kernel level tweaking.

I compile this ROM and Kernel from the latest CyanogenMod source code, add my various tweaks and adjustments, then test for stability, so you get all the benefits of CyanogenMod 10.2, plus my tweaks and extras, all without the instability and inconvenience of flashing CyanogenMod nightlies (which are not designed specifically for the Nexus 10 like my ROM is.

The kernel source is available from the CyanogenMod's GitHub.

None that I am aware of. Please report any issues in this thread or on the Facebook page.

Note: On CM10.1 ROMs, to access the internal SD card on your device via USB on your PC, please go to "Settings" - "About Tablet" and tap on "Build Number" repeatedly to unlock "Developer Options". Now go to "Developer Options" and enable "Android Debugging".

If installing for the first time:

To install this ROM you will need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery such as TWRP or ClockWorkMod installed (personally I recommend TWRP, I have had issues with restoring backups using CWM). If you haven't yet unlocked your bootloader and installed a custom recovery, I recommend downloading and installing the Nexus 10 Toolkit.

    1. Copy the downloaded SentinelROM zip to your Internal Storage.
    2. Boot into your custom recovery
    3. Back up your stock ROM
    4. Factory Reset and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
    5. Wipe System Partition
    6. Install the ROM
    7. Install GAPPS
    8. Reboot. First boot can take up to 5 minutes.

Important: CyanogenMod statics is switched off by default in this ROM. After installation you will be asked if you want to turn it on, please leave it off.

Note: Use of titanium backup to restore apps and data from another ROM is not recommended, and is the source of 90% of user issues, especially when it comes to battery life. Do so at your own risk.

You may flash other kernels as you wish via recovery. Remember to also flash the correct libraries for any 3rd party kernels.Instructions will be given by the Kernel author. NOTE: Updating the ROM via OTA will also overwrite any custom Kernels you have installed.

    • Thanks very much to all those who have answered my questions through the process of creating my own ROM, you know who you are.
    • CyanogenMod for their outstanding work. Full credit to them for the bulk of this ROM.
    • The Linaro team for their amazing toolchain.

For extreme performance, give KTManta Kernel by ktoonsez a go. It improves gaming performance significantly, but your device will get quite hot.
I'm going to do some more testing and may include it in later builds.

I hope you enjoy my ROM. If you do, please consider a donation to the CyanogenMod team. If you really like my build, please consider a donation to me as well. Donations go towards flowers for my wife so she lets me keep developing, and of course, additional devices so I can add to my list of supported devices.

There’s a lot of hype in the XDA forums recently around Linaro Toolchain.

Linaro Toolchain is used when compiling a ROM and supposedly gives large performance increases over ROMs which are compiled in the traditional manner.

I decided to put it to the test by recompiling my existing SentinelROM v4.40 source code for Nexus 10 using the Linaro Toolchain, then running a series of tests using the standard ROM and kernel, as well as the ROM and kernel compiled with Linaro.

See the results here in this video, all filmed in one take.
