Been looking around some more for the touchscreen IC.. Maybe someone who replaced a broken touchscreen could provide more info on the IC on the digitizer connector?
Strolling around at various sites as well.. Looking at: ... and assuming Elan lists all of it's controllers, could it be that the B81_x refers to the EKT81xxx series of touch controllers?
EDIT: See ... (capture taken from HD2 digitizer replacement DIY video). The IC still has the bloody barcode sticker, but clearly carries a print of the ELAN logo and below a string starting with eT.. So maybe the eTK81xxx are a good start!
In that case, i've found a datasheet of ELAN EKT8100A. Maybe the i/o of this controller shares some architecture/functionality with the controller in our HD2's? (If I were a microelectronics manufacturer, I wouldn't reinvent the wheel for each IC, bu then again, I'm no microelectronics manufacturer
)
My knowledge of this stuff is nowhere near enough to get anywhere with the datasheet, but if it might help, it can be downloaded from ...
Link is very slow sometimes.. should it go down and anyone be interested in the datasheet mentioned, LMK. I've pulled a local copy.
