Lol, it's ridiculous.

So now I have to wonder... I may be able to tether my LTE to the Parrot Asteroid I just ordered with this. That would be AWESOME!

Damn. I can't get it. Kept getting the error67. I had wiped caches. Gave it quite a bit to go away. Toggled tether on and off a few times. Rebooted twice. Tried wifi hotspot and USB tether (what I'm mostly interested in). Always got error67.
So, I deleted the entry from build.prop, willed caches rebooted. Still getting error67. Data toggles on and off every 30sec. Started to panic. Finally after about 10min it looks like I got a solid, standard connection.

Wish I could figure out what I did wrong. I made sure to put the entry in same spot mik put his in.

Would suspect a driver issue maybe. Cuz my XP PC still can never see my Evo as a storage drive. But, adb works and easytether work, so,...IDK. :( I did see that mik had a bunch of build.prop entries I dont have. Stock rooted ROM.
Any ideas? Anyone?

mik wrote in his thread

for all of u guys having issues with this... try this.

1. try to use usb tether for like 5 secs... then exit it and try hotspot.
2. try to be plugged in when u try hotspot.

it works either way btw... but i did notice once that it gave me the cute 3g cutting off... so i tried usb tether... and it worked, then i disabled usb tether and turned on hotspot.. .and all worked again.

so... 2 things i can think of here... 1. needs power, 2. much like some older hacked that had issues with hotspot working good (back in the evo4g we saw similar stuff every now and then) usb tether gets it going.

So, since the sprint hotspot does USB/BT, I assume this just avoids the whole "additional data plan" just for tethering?

I kept getting error 67 and I went into my build.prop again and I had my device and model as GT-I9300, I used that recently to activate my google wallet. So what I did was change that back to normal, rebooted and no more error 67. :D

Edit: Forgot to add that I wiped cache and dalvik cache as well.

In case anyone wants a flashable...

Here are two flashable zips. The first makes the build.prop edit, and the second removes it.

Like my HTCLinkify script, you can use these on ANY ROM, and they will have no impact aside from adding this functionality.

Let me know if you have any issues. :)

Works great thanks for the info. Make sure if you integrate dalvik cache in titanium backup that you de-integrate it then as posted before it is very important to use root explorer and go to data/dalvik-cache and delete all files. I then rebooted in to recovery wiped cache and dalvik just for good measure and everything works perfect.

Still can't figure out why it didn't work for me. I super need USB tether to work, guess I'll use easytether til I figure it out. Def was terrified when error67 kept happening after reverting build.prop (but finally stopped after about ~10min later). Wish I knew.

Maybe a deodex or custom rom is necessary.

Wiped cache/dalvik cache and flashed zip.
Got error 67 so I rebooted once more, no error this time.

So I haven't had time to try this yet, question for those of you that have. Once you finally establish a connection does the error go away permanently, or does it come up every time you try to enable the hotspot feature?

first off i would like to say this is not my work . i am just re-posting it to share with the xda community. all credits and thanks should be directed towards aamikam from themikmik.com

i can confirm this does work for joelz rom Charmeleon. i am running it and my hotspot is functional.i cleared cache and dalvik in recovery. rebooted still didnt work. so i used root explorer went to data/dalvik cache. select all deleted all items in that folder and rebooted worked after that. typing on my laptop with it now.

    roms confirmed working on.

This is one of the most simple and quick hack u ever need to do... i tested it with and without a full wipe... it never failed.

open your build.prop and add anywhere in it the following line:

    Code:

    ro.tether.denied=false

then reboot and u should be good to tether.

    p.s.
i tested it on a fully rooted rom with unsecured boot... so feel free to post feedback and let me know how it works out.

    p.s.2
this is something i noticed in my ics mikvigrin rom, only there it didnt work, but here it does.

    p.s.3
i think someone used this in the evo4g in the past... but not 100% sure if its true or not and not sure who.

    have fun.

I see in the op the list of ROMS this works with includes "Mik's Rom". Didn't know Mik had a ROM yet. Been over to their forum & didn't see it there nor here. Something I missed or just for donors?

no man... i didnt release anything out yet... i just put out a few tiny mods and hacks that i've done to my device...
my time kinda sucks now... so not sure when i will release any rom for this device... or i should say "a complete rom"... i will put out a stock rom base for everyone to use as i wanna give it the old "speedup and cleanup" before i even go into addons to it and into making it my own. (i did same in the evo4g before btw).

i never do donors only stuff... i always do it public...
in my book, when u registering to my site and/or visit it, is enough to be considered a "supporting member" of my work.

WiFi Tether works on mine with these settings:
    • Device Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
    • Setup-Method: Auto
    • Send Netd Max Client Cmd: Unchecked
    • WiFi-driver reload: Checked
    • WiFi-driver reload 2: Unchecked
    • Keep Alive - Commection Checking: Checked
    • MSS clamping: Checked
    • Routing fix: Checked
Everything else is probably at your discretion.

Just added it in and it works. Got error at first but then it went away. I was on LTE when i tried this and it cut me off LTE and switched to 3g. Im guessing this hack does not work with LTE atm?
