Okay not sure what caused this but I had my phone off for about 20 minutes and when I turned it back on to retest it I got no signal, then turned off wifi and signal came back, then turned off wifi and signal remained the same. Not sure if this effects my ability to send/receive voice or text. Its probably just the phone saving battery by turning off the cell radio.

I am on t-mobile.
However the network is OK around here. It would be great if someone on t-mobile and N4 can try to replicate this.

Default Re: [Q] Nexus 4 drops mobile network randomly

I had this issue with my previous defective device. If gps was on the mobile connection would crash. My new device does not have this problem.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
iPhone 3GS -> G1 -> iPhone 4 -> Galaxy Nexus -> G1 -> Nexus 4

Check your Nexus 4's IMEI. www.wilsonlam.ca/nexus4.html

I had this exact same issue when I first received my Nexus 4. I thought it may had been a faulty sim card, so I replaced that, twice, same result. I went ahead and formated the phone back to stock, same result. Checked and made sure APN settings were correct, same result. Contacted T-Mobile, they reset my phones service and the data in my area, same result. After both I and T-Mobile ran out of ideas I decided to contact Google for a replacement. Turns out it was a faulty antenna and my new device has been working fine since.

Thanks for sharing this!
I just called google and requested a replacement.
The lady said I should get an email in 2 days. I'm on day 13, so I'm cutting it close

Also wanted to add that I ran the same test(as in the video) while on a phone call. It dropped the call and locked me out of the network for 10 seconds just like in the video.

Based on the following link, this might be a software issue. I know the issue described in the link is not exactly what I experienced, but is similar in some ways:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40514

It's supposedly fixed in 4.2.2
Will let you know if I get the update before I RMA(don't want to force the update).

Hi All,

I wanted to share an update. I got my replacement device yesterday. It works just fine.
So this is a hardware issue.

Thanks for all your help with my questions!

Default Similar problem on Galaxy Nexus

Hi all,

first of all, I know that there's a different forum for the Galaxy Nexus, but since I have a similar problem as discussed here I thought maybe someone can help...

I also have random disconnects from my mobile network, but since I almost never use WLAN it might not be the exact same problem as discussed here, right?

I'm running cm-10.1-20130416-EXPERIMENTAL-maguro-gerrit-35930.zip, and - as I said - my phone randomly disconnects (shows the "no signal" sign in the status bar) and relatively quickly connects back to the mobile network and everything works like normal. The whole reconnection process takes about 5s or so, I don't have to re-enter the PIN or something...

Any ideas how I could figure out what the reason might be?
