I think the reason that it does not see it any more is that your no longer rooted. Will the modified boot img You might have to redo step 1 in the tool just pick the right version of system IE 1.7.2/1.7.3
I hope this helps.

Hi,

I try to install this: MotoACTV Root Tool Version 1.1.6 and I get a Message:
This ID doesn't exist!

What I need to do?

Thanks,
Arie.

I too am getting this error.

I have been away for a few days and now I am in a situation where I have to re-learn everything. Luckily the motoactv wikispaces web page should make it easy. I looked and saw that I have Root Tool 1.1.6

I have the wifi and the battery problems so I am forced to upgrade to resolve them.

Does anyone have any warnings or suggestions before I re-attempt to do this? Should I restore back to rooted stock or should I go back to unrooted stock?

What is the exact error, and where is it shown? Can you copy/paste all of it for me?

If you're on 1.7.2 or 1.7.3, the button combination to take your device into fastboot has changed. You no longer use start + power, you now use volume down + power (like most other android devices lol).

Were you taking it into fastboot properly? Also, did you try restarting your computer?

I am on 1.6.13.
yes I have tried restaring my pc, and I have tried entering fast boot by using both ways(it enters fast boot holding power and either vol up, vol down, start).
the drivers just have gone missing? as it works fine as mass storage when booted normally.

On 1.6.13, you have to enter fastboot with start + power, I believe... and on 1.7.2/3, you have to use volume down + power. Volume up + power is not fastboot, iirc.

I'll look more into it after...

When I try to click the link to download the new tool it says...

This ID doesn't exist!

and does not even show the web page. It also does it on the wikispace web page link as well.

Great. My server has erased about 10 or more of my links. Effing wonderful. I'll have to go in and fix it tonight. Sorry for the delay guys.

EDIT: That one link has been restored. There are still 11 missing. No Rom for a while, until I go in and manually enter every PHP link again. That's what I get for not backing up often enough.

Alrighty, after about 2 hours of searching for all the missing links, I think they're all back and not broken anymore. If you guys find any more "Invalid ID" errors from my website, please let me know, so I can fix them. :) Thank you all for the heads up.

I've got a full backup now also. I'm missing 2 links though, and couldn't find them anywhere... numbers 77 and 82...

Which navigation software you use, Google map this requires connection to the network and on the way no connection so what can I do?

Thanks,
Arie.

I use Copilot live. Initially It wouldn't install properly. But when I returned to stock then rerooted and reflashed, and made it my first installation it worked.
With Google maps you can try to cache the map area when you have WiFi. But that doesn't always help when you change destination. Alternatively you can tether to your phone through bluetooth using Nook Tether on the motoactv and use the phones mobile data.

I noticed that you can download official weather, facebook and twitter app for motoactv. Does it mean there should be some way to install dedicated apps w/o rooting device? Has anyone checked that?(e.g. rev. eng. the apps). This would be a big plus to be able to write dedicated app for motoactv that not only tech-savvy users (w/ rooted devices) could use.

I believe Motorola is planning a Motoactv 2. I recently received an invitation for a 'exercise device survey'. Asked me for my devices I had a singled out the Motoactv. 30 minutes long yadayada. What I wanted in a new one. Sponsored by Motorola Mobility.

Me thinks new one in progress. I suggested developer support hint hint.

Okay, so I'm new to these forums and I just bought a 16GB MOTOACTV primarily as a music player for running/workouts. But since I bought the 16GB model, and knowing that it can be rooted, I'm really curious as to finding some expanded uses for this device.

I'm going to go read through this thread right now from start to finish (as quickly as I can with it being over 200 pages long...probably read bits and pieces throughout today), but in the meantime, I'm curious about the best uses that are unlocked by rooting it. Any quick insight some of you guys could provide while I read the backlog of this thread would be much appreciated.

First off, does it lose any of it's native capabilities by rooting it? Like, whatever software is already installed on it, does that continue to function after rooting?

Secondly, for those of you who have rooted yours, what's the killer applications that you've found use for on a device of this size? I think I saw Google Maps being a pretty cool one on such a small device. Does using Google Maps require a constant data connection from a phone, or is it all GPS / offline based?

I'm currently charging my MOTOACTV for the first time, so I haven't even turned it on yet. As such, I'm not familiar with the software that's pre-installed on the device. I saw someone in the following Youtube video had installed a stopwatch app, and that sort of obvious functionality for a watch-type device would seem ideal, of course, if it wasn't already included with the pre-installed software.

[can't post the Youtube link, not really that important anyway]

I've got an unlocked Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile to pair up with this. Really curious as to what the potential of unlocking this device can bring :)

    CWMR ported

    Hello,

I have ported CWMR 5.0.2.7 to the Motoactv (F100) device.

    actvcmwr.png

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

The procedure for this is as follows. You MUST have working adb knowledge to use this and you must be able to restore using the available tool should any problems arise. This is considered an ALPHA release that may need additional work. I did not have access to the device during the port so all testing was done through TheEndGame7. THERE MAY BE ISSUES, you are warned.

    1) Download this file: CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img
    2) adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img /data/local/
    3) adb shell (become root)
    4) dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    5) exit adb from the device
    6) adb reboot recovery (you should be in CWMR now)

The source for the device config is here. Please feel free to go wild with development on this because I do not have the device and likely won't be contributing much more except bug fixes. If you use this source, please give credit where it's due.

NOTE: there are missing images(known). This is because the ramdisk is EXTREMELY finicky on this device and it WILL NOT BOOT past 3.66mb in size. I trimmed out things that weren't needed in order to make this work. The basic functionality you need should be there. adb is also not functioning properly yet within recovery.

Well, it was a *****, but here is build 2, moving to Beta at this point in 'Moto red' by request of TEG.

There is 1 lingering issue: usb support in recovery. It is a bastard, going to really have to tear this thing apart to debug why. Right now, recovery can backup, restore, wipe, flash roms, etc. All the stuff you're used to working, now does. I fixed images by shrinking the kernel to fit more stuff in here. You should no longer get any weird image errors. I bumped you up to 5.0.2.8 source as well.

Flash this file the same as before via adb and dd.
    CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img

    adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img /data/local/
    adb shell
    # dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    # exit
    adb reboot recovery

Some additional notes I'd like to share that might help you as you mess with this device now that I've played with one.

    1) NEVER use adb reboot bootloader for any reason. You get stuck in a ****tily programmed loop of hell. The way out of this loop is by following these instructions:

    a) hold START, POWER, VOL UP, VOL DOWN together for 10 seconds at least. You should see the screen flicker on and off twice.
    b) plug in the USB cable to turn device on
    c) you should boot back to rom, if not, do it again. It's touchy.

    2) The 'soft' reset is done by START + POWER for 5 seconds.

Enjoy. Source is updated. This will likely be the last update unless I get adb working.
