android version 2.3.3 (build 1.18.401.1)
Kernel 2.6.35.10

This ROM is designed to be a slightly stripped down ROM with a few basic tweaks just to get the ball rolling
I intend this list of mods to improve as we learn more about the cha cha's capabilities

FOR S-OFF USERS ONLY

clockworkmod recovery
busybox 1.19
superuser 2.3.6.1
a2sd (needs sd partition)
EXT2 auto-mount
Nano text editor and sysro/sysrw
Bash shell support
zipaligned
ES File manager
DSP Manager
Ad free
Silent boot animation
task killer tweak for extra speed
Screen timeout set to 30 seconds instead of 45

Removed apps:
Google books
HTC Tips widget
Pro tips
Stocks widget
Tell HTC
Trends widget
HTC twitter
Flickr
Sound recorder
HTC photo widget

With nothing else installed you get 57MB free storage

Things I intend to be able to eventually include are more complicated kernel mods like over/underclocking, some theming mods and more memory optimizations

Installation instructions:

1. copy superdroid_1.0_signed.zip to the root of your SD card
2. make sure fastboot is turned off
3. reboot into the recovery menu
4. set a partition on the sdcard in the advanced settings for the a2sd
5. I advise wiping both the cache and dalvik cache as well otherwise you'll probably get bootloop issues
5. select choose .zip and pick the superdroid_1.0_signed.zip
6. once installed then reboot and give it time to turn on for the first time (up to 5 minutes)
7. enjoy :)

If you have any problems with superuser forceclosing use this method osahiro found to fix the issue. It seems to be common with the 1.18 update

1. Delete Superuser's update and clear data.

2. Reinstall superuser from the market.

3. Enable 'Auto-rotate screen' on the Display settings.

4. Change the screen to the portrait mode.

5. Run Superuser and allow permission to update its own.

6. Restart the handset

I plan to s-off my chacha soon and try this rom. It would be good in the faq section ( should you make one) to include a guide to make sd ext partition. I don't know to make one and think there others like me.

Well the easyway is in clockwork recovery in the advanced options you can partition the sd there.

Heres a good tutoral on how to do it using the code and how you can upgrade it to ext3 and ext4 as well

I really really like a drop down power notification bar is that something you think you'll be able to add please?

Have to say big thanks and respect for getting a custom rom tho.

Awesome!

Please read these before asking any questions that might have already been asked. If you think something should be added then let me know

1. How do you add a ext partition to the sd card

All you need to do is use CMW and partition it in the advanced options. There is also an in depth tutoral here for using ADB http://androinica.com/2009/09/how-to-create-a-2nd-partition-to-install-android-apps-on-an-sd-card/
Any recommended size for ext partition and swap partition ?

Could someone explain the whole ap2sd concept? I still can't move certain apps to sd plus I'm still running hella low on space. Thx

In next version you need to readd tweeter because it causes an endless syncloop.
I had the same problem in other roms for dhd and dz.

Yeahhhhh I have an S-Off unit so will try this.

Hopefully someone will create a pure AOSP rom for this without all the junk.

Well done.

a quick question,
did the battery life improve?

I think so , a little bit, but could be placebo effect of root ;)

@FCW:

In future release you need to reinclude twiter as it causes an endless sync loop in facebook live feed.
I've had this problem in other roms that I tried to remove twitter ( DZ and DHD)

You can untick live feed from autosync but after a reboot it is back on.

Thx.

/sorry for double posting this, but I must have had some browser problems couse it didnt apear the first one and I thought I wasnt posted. :)

I S-Offed mine today and installed the Superdroid-ROM, in comparison to my stock Europe-Swisscom-ROM, this one sucks.

The original ROM lasted for at least 2 days and this one is 50% off after 5 hours of use...

This may be due to me removing twitter. I'll be re-adding it for the next realease Im working on although What programs are you using? Are you using the same radio rom? Sometimes if your radio rom isnt compatable with the network or os it can cause a battery drain. I didnt include one with the rom but mine is 7.47.35.17 and Im getting plenty out of it.

Any recommended size for ext partition and swap partition ?

I have 256mb for my ext and 32mb for my linux-swap. Its really important that you get the linux swap in and do it before flashing the rom though. Doesnt matter how big your ext is though. Just as much as you want.

can i install this theme to stock rom (no s-off)?
also if i partition my sd based on the instructions here http://androinica.com/2009/09/how-to-create-a-2nd-partition-to-install-android-apps-on-an-sd-card/ and use stock rom (no s-off) will i be able install the apps in sd ext3 partition?

unfortuantely you need s-off for this kind of theme. It needs to be installed with clockwork recovery before the filesystem is mounted but keep an eye here as HTC are going to be unlocking it at some point for us. I wouldnt buy an XTC clip yet
