Default Re: Ubuntu for Tablets for Nexus 7 Released! [Official Dev Preview]

Very easy to install....like any other rom. Did a nandroid, wiped cache and davlik...ran zips...reboot.

Checked it out a bit. I realize its a preview....so it doesn't really do anything at the moment. Surf the net...use the calculator ...

Pretty....neat. restored my nandroid after 10 minutes.

Might end up being usefull for some.....but for mainstream use...I doubt it will ever go anywhere. No android apps use being planned. Well it'll be used by some Linux fans maybe....but no device will ever be sold with Ubuntu as its sole OS. Not anytime soon anyway. Unless they get a large app store quickly. Look at rim.....still a pretty lousy app selection.

Like I said....neat tho. Pretty too!

Blackberry was stupid enough to use QNX, and i've never met anyone developing something for that OS.

Looking forward to more complete builds and apps in the future. Going to be spreading developers thin over ios/android/windows 8 & Rt and Ubuntu.

Maybe I did something wrong, but I installed the raring-preinstalled-phablet and it seemed just like the initial preview; nothing was really functional.

Has anyone been able to install this? Does this reformat the whole device? Hopefully, there would be iso files which can be downloaded and flashed via MultiROM

The format that the daily builds are in are already compatible with multirom. There is a link with simple instructions in Tasssadars multirom thread. Second post of the op, i think.

From what i've read, there is still nothing that really works, not on the GNex and neither on the N7.

I guess we'll see the first build with actual core apps pre-installed when it'll get to Release Candidate status... smh

DONATE TO ME
Finally I got Ubuntu Touch in my Nexus 7 3G with multiboot, following this > http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2120529 < tutorial.

I had some trouble because it needs a patched kernel / hardboot to work, but installed it and all went fine. Now I have main CM10.1 ROM on internal and Ubuntu Touch Preview as second ROM.

I'm finding a problem though, when I try to connect to my house's wifi, as it's WPA protected, it asks me for the password, but even focusing the password field tapping on it, no keyboard shows, so I'm unable to type in the password, resulting in no connectivity at all... so I can't test any of the webapps, the browser, and so on...

Anyone has found a workaround for this ?

Cheers!

Edit: typos
