I have a laptop that I carry to difference places (public, private, class, work)

I would like to create a volume with all my sensitive data (passwords, financial info, dental info, health info) and have it mounted at all times on my laptop.
The size of the data is no greater than 1 GB.

As well, this volume will be placed on a cloud drive (Google cloud or dropbox) in case I lose my laptop, then all my data is intact.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

Sometimes, I like to close my laptop instead of actually logging off. (I carry my laptop to various places)

Are there risks of corruption and ruining the entire volume?

Should I use individual file encryption instead?
