Default Onscreen Buttons

Is it possible to change the color from gray to black without root? I don't want to lose BE2 or other features.

It's not possible in any way, using a different launcher doesn't change the background colour of the on-screen buttons or notification bar.
Currently using Sony Ericsson J100i for old time's sake (yes, seriously).

No. Status bar and nav bar are a part of SystemUI. Launcher is completely independent.

Is your Xperia having issues? Try repairing it with Sony's PC Companion or Sony's Update Service first before posting.
Remember to back up your data before proceeding and do internal wipes [factory reset under settings] as well.

Use the latest FlashTool to flash FTF files if PCC and SUS fails to recognize or repair your Xperia.
Full tutorial on how to use FlashTool.
