I wrote him again and he insisted that, as long as no jtag repair was done before to the device, he is able to do the jtag repair keeping the SIM card functionality.
I have already sent him the streak, we will how all this ends.
thank you, please let me know when you return it and have checked the jtag that is in perfect condition, yotuve streak to buy a used and run down the case and in the next'll change the mainboard.
i upgrade my dell streak to a custom rom and then downgrade to stock rom and got stuck, and now dell streak don't turn on at all. i think i need a jtag but afraid that sim may not work again. please let me know how your Jtag go from #10.

Well, I wrote to the people of the link posted in #10 specifically asking them about this issue with the SIM card and the dell streak after the jtag repair. They answered yesterday telling me that the SIM zone would be untouched and remain functional.
I think I will send them my streak. I post back how everything ends.
please let me know how this play out i needed a jtag too

my condition is also the same please inform me too about the jtag
I've read about JTAG and is doesn't touch the sim area, so the sim is going to work, but there is only a small problem it may be locket so you can use the sim.
As for RIFF resurrection method, it is important to say that RIFF DOES NOT rewrite "SIM_Secure" partition. This partition contains security data, hence it is not advisable to touch it. dell streak JTAG
I found this method on another thread dell streak repair There is a pdf there, download and read it.
It seems that JTAG is reparing Boot area.
Personal attacks and / or superiority complexes are unconstructive, off-topic and unseemly. I would ask you to try and limited them ... With bowing.
as said before, I sent my bricked streak to make the jtag repair there in #10.
I received yesterday a confirmation of the guy telling me that everything went fine and, after the jtag repair, the SIM functionality is still working and the device has fully resurrected.
Unfortunately I haven't checked that myself because I haven't received the device yet, which I hope will happen next week. Everything took long because sending from/to Europe to/from USA seems to be very slow.
I will post again when I receive it to finally confirm this, but I don't have any reason not to believe what they told me yesterday.
Jimmy8100, it seems that you also bricked your streak, welcome to the club.
as said before I sent my streak to the people mentioned in post #10 after bricking it using the damned command "fastboot -w".
Unfortunately, it returned locked, hard-locked. With that I mean that the streak asks me for an unlock code to use it with the network I'm try to, but I have 0 attempts remaining. I can, however, make emergency calls and it detects the sim, as it accepts the (correct) pin number.
I have been trying these last weeks different things to unlock it without any success. Changed the rom, the recovery, the baseband, I crossed my fingers and prayed to God, but nothing worked, it is still locked.
Did anyone there had similar problem? Any suggestion worth to try to solve this? Does anyone know if there exists some kind of unfreeze code for the streak in order to reset the number of attempts to introduce an unlock code? Does anyone have some feeling about using a rebel sim card? Could it work?
Thanks!
From what I've read, it's impossible to reset that counter. You'd have to try the RebelSIM, but I believe at this point even the RebelSIM isn't going to work.
This is what I meant by the Streak not being useable for calls after JTAGging it.
Noob FAQ Q: Can someone suggest a link I can follow that will walk me through the root process for this phone? A: Simple answer is no. Do your homework. No spoonfeeding here. Check the stickies and the search engine. You'll find it soon enough.
The people in post #10 told me that they have done the jtag repair to other streaks resurrecting also the sim functionality. However, they had problems with at least 3 streaks which were bricked after the fastboot -w command. I guess me and others from this thread.
I see however some differences with what was reported so far after the jtag repair. First of all, I can make emergency calls, which I tried and worked. I think this means that it is not dead as phone, although I think they are sim card independent...
Moreover, I can introduce the pin number and it is detected as correct, which means that it is accessing the simcard. This other people couldn't, I think.
I do have a service tag number; it was left to 000000 for those others and seemed to be the origin of the locking problem.
Did anyone try the rebelsim after the jtag repair?
well I finally contacted the Dell support. They told me that, if it says that there are 0 attempts remaining to introduce the unlock code, then there is nothing to do. This can only be solved by replacing the device. Hence, end of story.
