Directory Bind questions

I used directory bind on my Gameloft files and again on my odd files. All has worked well and the moved programs work. When I go into the phone's internal memory, I still see the files in their original directories and properties shows the file sizes as their original file size. When I select the folder on the internal memory, long press for properties, and it says like 1.7GB. I go to the app manager shows the files as the original size also. However, when I go to settings, storage, it shows my internal memory reduced by 1.7GB. After moving the files, should there be a "ghost" image still on internal memory? I see the files on the SD card and under properties, measure the same 1.7GB.

What is going on? Is this the way it operates?
Its working well, I'm leaving it alone, but just want to know.
