It was already answered..

well u will have to wait for some exploit to be found which will work on locked bootloader...

i had tested the most used exploits on the Xperia Z but none of them worked...

For god's sakes read previous posts

(...) No, you don't lose "the bravia thing"
You sure? You lost it upon unlocking on the latest previous device (Xperia T). Would be cool if it didn't get lost.
And just to clear up, I don't really miss it on my unlocked T but I'm still somewhat annoyed when I see/read other peoples raving about it :p

why i asked about the bravia and the updates is because i read it sumwhere that you lose them things if you unlock boot and root. ill try and find it again and post it up here. It mite have been on the sony site.

This is from sony site...............Also note that there is no turning back once you have unlocked the boot loader. You will not be able to revert the device to a locked or original state if you unlock it. In addition, if you brick the device, it is your own responsibility. Note that you will not receive any official software upgrades if you unlock your device.

all official updates will be converted into FTF files... similar to RUU files (HTC), or TAR.MD5 (Samsung)... which can be flashed on both locked and unlocked bootloader devices...

dont worry... unlocking bootloader hasnt stopped any of the users from 2011 to update to latest official software upgrade :)

AW: [ROOT] Xperia Z (C660x) for unlocked bootloaders ONLY! (RELEASED)

Thank you for great work!

Can I go back to 100% stock after unlocking (including Drm and bravia)? E.g. through "re-locking" or something like that?

(...) "re-locking" or something like that?
Relocking will most likely be possible as it is with most (if not all) recent Sony devices. However...

DRM keys will be wiped...
...as in you will never get them back. Never ever. Unlocking unrecoverably destroys the DRM keys.
If the Bravia Engine is lost on the Z upon unlocking (as it is on all other Sony devices) seems still to be up for discussion, as well - given it's lost - if it can be restored with a relock. This will be uncovered in the next couple hours as it seems to become available these hours (my provider got them in today...).

You will not lose any Bravia thing after unlock the bootloader, i've unlocked my Xperia Z and the Bravia Engine 2 is still there.

Having been with Samsung for the past 2 years and now looking at the Xperia Z, can someone explain what losing the DRM keys will actually mean in reality ? ie. DRM keys for what ?

Thanks :)

Sounds good but are you 100% positive? The options may still be present but the actual BE2 may not function. Are images/videos looking as great as they were with BE2 for sure on?

On previous Sony devices (as the T I own for example) this meant certain services stopped to work, such as:
  • The video app has the ability to download previews/covers for (generally known) movies you have in your library. Gracenote is behind this as a service, this function does not work without the DRM keys.
  • The same holds true for the walkman app, it can automatically tag, name and download a cover for your mp3's. This stopped to work upon unlocking.
  • Sony also bundles it's TrackID app for music recognition (Shazam, Soundhound, eeh?) with its devices. Now this app is available on the store and can be freely used on any device, before that it only worked on Sonys and only with DRM keys.
I always root and remove stuff like the following which I classify as "bloat", so I'm not a 100% positive here, but I believe it also is true:
  • Sony bundles some stores with its devices, it's own movie store, it's own music store and I also believe ebooks and stuff like that. I believe these also stop working after unlocking. As said, not a 100% positive.

My question exactly. The option is still there on my unlocked Xperia T, it does however not work at all anymore. It makes no difference what so ever to pictures or movies if I have it enabled or disabled.

Ah thanks, none of that will bother me, I don't really use my phone for music (have a Walkman MP3 anyway), and hardly use it for any video (watch on my tablet), but if I do I have separate apps already, so hopefully losing any of that won't be an issue for me.

Much appreciate the explanation :good:

for rooting latest firmware check this:
    [ROOT][Z] How-to for rooting newest firmware 10.3.1.A.0.244 / 10.3.1.A.2.67

    ------------------------

Alternate Method using Recovery posted! (RECOMMENDED)

Since we now have Recovery fully working its a lot easier to root the device. I have made a simpler package for easier rooting and installing busybox. find it in second post!

    ------------------------

    [ Information ]

so once the bootloader is unlocked its generally very easy to root but there were numerous issues where rooting wasnt working even using insecure kernel

so i used the ramdisk of CF-Auto-Root for the Nexus 4, modified it a bit for working on the Xperia Z and thats it... Root achieved!

all of the testing was done remotely (using teamviewer)... many thanks to the user who willing helped out with the testing!

Want to root without unlocking bootloader? now you can! thanks to goroh_kun! check out THIS thread!

    [ Requirements ]

    • Firmware Version: 10.1.A.1.350

    • we tested on C6603 and C6602

    • unlocked bootloader

    • fastboot files (are there in the unlock bootloader thread)

    [ How to Root ]

    1. reboot into bootloader

    2. flash my modded CF-Auto-Root Kernel,
      Code:
      fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_CF-Auto-Root-ported_FW-350.img

    3. reboot from fastboot
      Code:
      fastboot reboot

    4. the device will now start booting and u will get indication on screen saying (Device will reboot in 10 seconds)

    5. after CF-Auto-Root reboots device once, disconnect USB cable and do hard power off (3 vibrations)
[FYI: disconnect usb cable.. u have to do hard power off "press power button and keep VOLUME UP key pressed for 15 seconds"]

    6. connect device in fastboot mode and flash stock kernel
      Code:
      fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_insecure_FW-350.img

    7. now reboot device and the device will start booting into OS
      Code:
      fastboot reboot

    8. you should now Download Busybox Installer from Market and install it at /system/xbin/

    9. thats it! device is now completely rooted!

    Alternate Method using Recovery

Since we now have Recovery fully working its a lot easier to root the device. I have made a simpler package for easier rooting and installing busybox.

    Steps:

    1. Download the: SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip and save it on phone (external sdcard)

    2. Just flash any kernel which contains recovery (for stock based ROM) [e.g.: Advanced Stock Kernel]

    3. Boot into recovery and flash that file "SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip"

    4. now reboot and the firmware will be fully rooted with SuperSU and Busybox installed!!!
