NOTICE

You must have 4.1.2 stock firmware :fingers-crossed: (This is not rom)

and

Download the update zip from google server http://android.clients.google.com/packages/data/ota/google_nakasi/094f6629314a.signed-nakasi-JOP40C-from-JZO54K.094f6629.zip

If you have a custom recovery, you can just copy it to the device, reboot to recovery, and flash directly as you would any other zip. You're done.

If you have the stock recovery, carry on.

if you 4.1.2 firmware just install no full wipe

but maybe twrp recovery will be fine.

You do nothing special but make sure that you nexus 7 has stock firmware and no modified system file. Flash away with TWRP as usual.

Superuser no longer seems to work :s

Edit: Flashed Chainfires CWM superuser file (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1741395) . Works perfectly now

What did you expect you flashed an OTA update. Unless you use something like OTA Root Keeper you are gong to lose root. Just use one of the many ways to root your device. I use Wug Fresh for rooting and installing a custom recovery.

I just updated and rooted with the same CWM package I used for 4.1.2 rom.

You can root it with the Nexus 7 ToolKit. Tested and working for me.

Or you can root manualy, by pushing rhe CWM recovery to system in Fastboot mode and installing the SU from CWM.
Beware of the Bootloader 4.13 that also made the issue of not recognizing the custom recovery - need to downgrade bootloader to 3.34 first.

In my case the recovery remained unchanged. I didn't had to downgrade anything.
