Digital Car - Front end for Android tablet

Digital Car for Android out for testing...

To become part of the testing group you will need to do the following;

1. Go to the google community group CLICK HERE
2 Join the group.
3. Click to download the alpha version (top right)

You will now get updates as I release them

New in this version (Alpha 1.02)
Moved releases over to the Play store
Fixed 'out of memory' start error

New in this version (Alpha 0.21)
Fixed AudioManager when moving between external players (Pandora / Spotify / Tunein etc..)
Improved icon launcher, now preloads icons in to an array
few other bits..

version (Alpha 0.2)
Added 8 preset app buttons
Added App Launcher
Added Background chooser
Added Power awareness
Added Other media awareness, pauses for navigation / Tunein etc..
Added lots more.. (apols, can't remember everything)

Power awareness -
1st set your device to sleep to 15 seconds - go to settings, display, sleep = 15 sec'd
plug in your device and start Digital Car for Android up
When you unplug it, it will pause and then let it self go to within 15 seconds
Plug it back in and it will start playing

Background -
To set you own image as a background, goto your internal storage device and you will see a folder called DigitalCar/Backgrounds. Just store them in there and next time you start DC up it will have them included. Please keep the images around 100k so not to cause a bitmap loading error.

I still need to do lots more, mainly in the settings.

Hi, is it not at the top.. in the download tab? If not, apologies, not used this before. You can grab it from... NEW VERSION NOW AVAILABLE ON THE PLAY STORE via the alpha testing group (see 1st post)

my nexus is installed in my dash upside down witch has never been an issue until I tried this app. is there a way to change the orientation?

I'll look into it and let you know...

Apologies, I'll sort it for the next release which will be in a couple of hours, just finishing off a logo option for the middle.

Made a bit of progress tonight

You can now select mph or kph and choose a logo. All the logo's are in a folder you can add your own to if you wish.

Fixed some errors and improved lots of things (I hope).

Hopefully get something up soon....

I like the app, but I'm finding out that once you set the icons I can't reset them unless I delete the folder through a file explorer. I also can't seem to get rid of the music icon no matter what. I want to say the app is pretty cool and I know its in its infancy maybe I'm not using it correctly. Anyways cool app man I'm going to stay on top of it and review it on my YouTube channel at one point.

Dude good concept, but give it the option to control music apps like Spotify or Pandora no only your default music app. Also a little of the music info wouldn't be bad at all. And to make it awesome add Bluetooth OBDII compatible to get the speed right from the car computer instead of relying on the GPS. Sorry I asked for much. Keep up the good work

Installed app and subscribed to thread, this is of interest. I often drive with music playing and a speedometer app running on my phone, so one neat app GUI running for both is nice. Will there be any audio enhancement functionality, or perhaps ability to integrate the audio engine of an app like poweramp, so that the Digital Car app just controls it?

How are y'all doing this, are you connecting to your in-dash via BT, aux cable, or do most folks have a tablet installed in the dash? To me this is the most exciting turn in Androids history. I am so looking forward to more of these types of capabilities. I just don't really see it unless there is a full powered Android head unit. Not sure if a tablet would work so well with 3 amps and 12 speakers, and BT or aux won't cut it since it's another screen that I have to play with while driving unless I am missing something here.
