Alright, I've got a highly experimental kernel for you. It's completely based on the Galaxy W kernel source, which are much newer and up to date than the one for the S+. If I can get this to work ok, then I can merge the two kernels (and maybe the Exhibit II kernel as well), which will save a **** load of work. Much easier to maintain one kernel than three.

Experimental kernel:

In case of any problems, use the following to go back to original kernel:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?w7gyi9vip99tqw3

kernel installed, no problems, boot ok, looks good, but:
wi-fi does not turn on
bluetooth is ok, turns on

phone feels very laggy after wake up, after some time, all good

For me as well wifi doesn't work. Trying to turn on but stops.

The button under settings - WLAN is dark grey when pushed to "ON".
Keeps there for about 5 seconds, switches to off again. BTW, the "OFF-Button" is darker than BTs one.

Bluetooth function is good, pairing with laptop works.

Incall volume is better than before.
Motion sensor is not working (screen doesn´t turn of when phone is used for a call)

Seems for me, that light sensor is also not working.

Auot rotation is not working for me.

GPS is ok...

Sadly, i have no possibility for a log now (@ work).

Edit: Can´t change back to original kernel, says bad file @ install. Also with second download.
Edit2: Got it with link from page 216

That's not true for me! I had fully charged my phone at 24/4/2012 14:00 and i charged again today 26/4/2012 21:00. Never flight-mode, always closed wifi and 3g, 30 minutes every day calls, 30 minutes everyday games and some messages! 55 hours without charge is a very good score!

Seems like he uses Juice Defender...
Yep.I use Juice Defender on extreme mode, I use Advanced Task Manager on safe mode and 30 min freq. moderate wifi use, no 3g at all, and calls 1h 45 min.I think the battery life is great and doesn't need work done on it at least on my phone.

I noticed something strange.Today I bought a travel charger with microUSB.The original Samsung charger has an output of 5V at 700mA and this one has an output of 6V at 500mA.When I plug my phone in the new charger it charges much quick (because of the voltage) but the touchscreen goes haywire and at one point it will stop working. Is this a bug? With the other charger it doesn't do that, but I don't really see what harm could this do to the phone, but I don't like the touch screen thing. Thanks!

that's actually weird, silviu (salut!).

I agree that keeping the phone in 2G if you don't do much browsing or connect to the internet that often is useful, as it really boosts battery life, I'm just not sure about apps like Juice Defender or Advanced Task Manager. You might find the battery actually has a longer life without ATM, at least.

Noroc!

I flashed the new kernel and tried to get some logcat and dmesg stuff.
I didn't do that before ao here is what i did in case it is wrong.

1.) turn on and of wlan like crazy
2.) in the shell: dmesg > /mnt/sdcard/dm.txt

For me it doesn't look like the dmesg is containing useful information. I see a lot of spam by the Vibration module and some battery stuff but i will attach the file for arco.

Logcat gives the following messages when playing with the wlan:
04-27 00:04:44.922: E/WifiStateMachine(230): Failed to load driver!
04-27 00:04:44.962: E/WifiStateMachine(230): DriverFailedState

Wifi, Light sensor, Orientation, Proximity -> Not working

None at all? I suspected wifi wouldn't, as it's a different version and probably require a rom rebuild as well. But the sensors seems to be detected ok according to the log:

    Fix for recovery bootloop problem

Thanks to everyone who hear my pray and tried to help with my problem (bootloop into recovery). And Acro68 sorry that i'm bothered you. I here again to publish the solution. Problem was in bootloader, like people on other forum says (it was damaged somehow, probably because kies update fails before).

    1. Open Odin.exe (UnZip from Odin.zip)
    2. Go into Download mode
    3. Select OPS - AriesVE.ops (UnZip from AriesVE.zip)
    4. Select BOOT - Boot_loader.tar
    5. Flash it and bootloop into recovery never gona happen.

    All the files is attached...

I and some fellow developers (especially thanks manveru0, skywalker01, other users for testing, reporting and other help) are trying to port AOSS to our device, working with CyanogenMod 7 for now.
You can check out this thread, repositories, and this post for changelogs, bug reports and so on.
    Github repositories:
    https://github.com/abbradar
    https://github.com/manveru0
Feel free to check them out and fork!

    Current status of porting:
    Working:
    • Screen (w. touch features, w. backlight)
    • Buttons
    • Radio (w. 2G/3G, Internet is working)
    • Bluetooth
    • WLAN
    • Rotate sensor
    • Handset button
    • USB
    • Battery sensors
    • Camera
    • GPU acceleration
    Not working:
    • GPS (does not lock)
    • Audio (both input and output, will be tough)
    • Camcorder (because of audio)
    • Storage-related (external SD not working, internal with no USB storage, vold misconfigured)
    • USB tethering/MTP (will require some programming)
    • Host access point (similar to USB tethering)
    • Light sensor
    • Buttons force feedback
    • Contacts on SIM card
    Not tested:
    • Other sensors (compass, magnetic)
    • HDMI (should not work, as logs say)
    • FM radio (should not work)
    Another bugs:
    • CyanogenMod settings doesn't work (fixed by
    • Random reboots sometimes
    • Sometimes - very long resume from sleep (30 seconds approximately)
    • Keyboard is very small
    • Dialer is laggy (because of audio)
    • USB connected notification is shown without USB cable attached
    • APN database is not working (enter settings manually)
    • Vibration strength is very weak
    Regressions: (worked before)
    • Nothing for now

    Hello, guys.
First of all, sorry for my 2.5-month absence, I was really short of time because of university and long illness, so I decided to freeze module development for a while. I understand that doing so without any posts there was rude, and ask for understanding.
Next, it was a great surprise for me to see really working CM9 for our phone!!! I can only say GJ to arco68 - thank you guy, you really did this, even without a phone! I don't think my work is relevant anymore, so I'll stop with CM7 and will check out his work (maybe I'll be of some help). I've been able to found quick solution for working audio in 2.3.7, also, but I don't think it is relevant anymore ^_^.
Once again, good job, arco68. I'll try to build CM9 with your configuration and test it, so I'm going to be just user and tester for now. ^_^

Here's a new full test build of the rom. This contains fixed boot image, so it actually boots (unless I screwed something up this time :p). USB connect/disconnect should work correctly, wifi I *hope* works now. In addition I added support for automatic brightness and cleaned up some stuff.

And lol at the tags. Who wrote that? :D

I am a CM9 porter for Galaxy SL. I have come across issues with audio in Galaxy SL also, which I have overcome by coding an Audio wrapper. If you need any help with fixing audio on S+, count me in.
