Also seeing FC messages repeatedly on boot after flashing GAPPS on my VM phone.
Here's what I did: wiped everything except sdcard, flashed cm11, reboot to system successfully, reboot into recovery, flash gapps, and reboot to system to find FC messages rendering the system useless. I've tried it with both TWRP 2.6.3 and newest EXT4. Also tried 4.3.x gapps and the unofficial 4.4.1 gapps mentioned above.

I flashed the ROM, rebooted to system. Flashed 4.4.1 core gapps from the link above & the other 4.4.1 dialer apk, wiped dalvik, rebooted. I did it in 4ext out of boredom even though dastin says to use TWRP. It worked. Since then, I tried changing the runtime to ART which resulted in bootloops. I now have installed the the latest xposed framework, xblast tools, & modified the build.prop with no issues.

Flashed ROM and 4.4.1 gapps in 4ext. No issues so far but still setting up. BTW my SMS worked through hangouts and I am in VM.

why need twrp. in my opinion, recovery is just unzip file to right partition , do some file link, file permission.

Because Android 4.4+ uses SELinux enforced by default. TWRP 2.6.3 is the only recovery for this device that is properly updated and supported to properly support SELinux and flash the ROM correctly due to the introduction of metadata and SELinux policy enforcement at flash time.

Art definitely doesn't work, and the lock screen is buggy. But everything else seems to work flawlessly.

After using it some more, YouTube causes reboots and forces you to pull the battery

Their latest version works fine. I'm running xblast & xprivacy with no issues..
@dastin1015 the only issue I'm finding is any attempt at video playback whether being native through the gallery or YouTube causes a soft reboot & after it boots back up get 5-10 android.process. media FC's. I know it's no help without a log but thought I'd mention it even though I've heard that's been a issue on other devices.
Thanks for sharing this build with us sir! :)

Also in the camp of the only problem I have seen is the video causing reboot one.

Just thought I'd recap my experience. Tried installing with 4ext Recovery and rom started but was unuseable due to background process crashes that wouldn't go away. Switched to TWRP Recovery and found the rom worked fine without gapps. Proceeded to try it with official and unofficial PA gapps. Both cases it would go into a bootloop during the app optimization process. So I thought I'd try it with a smaller gapps file and that seems to have made it work. I ended up having to use build that I got from the Evervolv downloader.

This one worked for me.
http://dl.evervolv.com/builds/gapps/kk44/

Now the rom seems to work great so far. :)

An oddity: timely seems to cut off sound as it caused my sound machine to silence and the alarms only vibrated. Don't know if all alarms do this or not. My initial thought is user error somehow but have not had time to fully investigate.

Also looks like apps moved to the SD card uninstalled when I rebooted.

Beyond that the rom seems to be running quite well and very smoothly.

No matter what gapps I use, I get "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" Stuck at this. Phone runs fine without gapps installed. I've tried 4.4, 4.4.1 and 4.4 core. Nothing. Bummer.

Nevermind: Got it sorted out. I didn't realize I had to do a full wipe, reinstall the rom and then the gapps whenever I changed one. Working now. Thanks!

Still can only use core gapps. Is there anyway to get the other apps included in gapps?

I've been doing some thinking and I've come to the conclusion that I will be discontinuing all Android development. I will be deleting all of my repos and download links. It's been fun, but so long.
