To those people asking about drivers who said they did a search and/or do not want to flip through hundreds of pages: Forums of this size and sophistication have the ability to not just search the whole forum but sub forums and even
single specific threads. I notice that the new 2013 XDA theme even has a box in the top right hand corner with the text "Search this thread", I wonder what that is for ? hint hint
This is not meant as a insult or belittling just a statement of some useful information that I hope people add to their internet usage skill set to keep repeat topics down.
The function of having mass numbers of people contacting LG is not to hurry up the ICS update. Its not like someone from customer service is going to run down the hall to the software guys and yell "STOP EVERYTHING! Finish the ICS update for the 2x right now!". They don't have that power. What the goal is firstly is to let LG know that they cannot get away from not updating their devices. When the LG Canada statement got plastered around that was an indirect way for LG to gauge the demand for the update. If it makes the rounds and LG does not notice an up rise in activity they may believe it is safe to cut their loses. We need to make sure they know this will not be tolerated.
Secondly we are trying to get LG to start communicating. It should be fully expected that for the first while they will cut and paste generic answers. Quite frankly they have nothing else to post and they got to close those tickets you know. What will happen is at a meeting hopefully someone will bring up, as a minor point, the recent uprising in ICS requests. The manager/supervisor/director/etc. will say something to the affect of "Okay well I'll make a call or send an email to someone in the responsible department and see if we can get a better answer to pass on to the people calling to reduce those inquires." I must say though the ICS update assault on their official Facebook page has been enjoyable to watch.
The LG Electronics Philippines person is lying and we know it. They are probably getting alot of inquires about this (GOOD!) but are now making up some tech sounding reason that they think non-tech people would accept and stop contacting them (BAD!). See if you can forward that statement to someone in LG's PR department. I'm sure they would not take kindly to customer service making PR statements without their consent.
We are not that special in our slowness of getting an ICS update. They only difference with us is LG made clear public promises. If they had not done that I think we, and by we I mean not just 2x/G2x but Black and 3D owners, would be showing more patience. The LG software guys are working. I noticed they released their new UI 3 with the ICS for the newer devices right around the time we were originally supposed to get the ICS update. I believe we got bumped for that UI update. Then they had to get the new devices ready for launch. As a company what would you prioritize, new device releases or support for older devices ? So I think part of the delays have been other projects ahead of us. Also I was reading in LG's recent statement that 44% of all their phones were smart phones. That may show how important they take smart phones in the mobile division.
