I have tried every way posted so far and still cannot get Navigation working.

I am running Cyan's newest with the Android 2.0 theme.

In fact, the maps application seems to never change. It even remembers the last search I performed. The closest I have come was the first time I did it (received force closes). Since then, no matter how I install this, it remembers the last search and everything..

Any thoughts?

What i had todo is install Google Voice :) . Once i installed this app the Navigation button showed up

g1 w/ 4.2.3.1 and the android2.0 .5.1 theme, idiot's guide worked beautifully after a bit of tinkering...the theme pretty much fills the /system partition so some things had to go to make it work, kept getting errors that there was no space

removed oggs from ringtones/notifications/alarms since theyre on the sdcard, removed advancedlauncher apk/odex, and that freed up the 3mb or so of room needed to make this fit

just puttin that out there in case anyone else is hitting the same scenario

Here guys, all wrapped up.

Make sure you have CyanogenMod 4.2.3.1, by the way.

1) Unzip zip to desktop
2) Run Part 1.bat
3) When prompted to press any key, do so; the phone will reboot
4) When your phone is running again, run Part 2.bat
5) When prompted to press any key, the installation process is done.
6) Make sure GPS is enabled
7) Open Maps and press OK
8) Press Menu
9) Press Directions
10) Enter an end point
11) Click Go
12) Just under "Show on map", click Navigate.
13) When prompted to install the voice codec, do so.
14) Enjoy. :)

Ill give this a shot and report back in a few minutes.

EDIT: Attempting to install Google Voice results in the phone restarting. No FC or anything.. just a reboot

EDIT2: Attempted installing Google Voice 3 times before it finally took. Navigation option appeared! Cheers mate!

Do you need Motonav.apk to make the Navigation work?

Wiped System
Wiped EXT
Wiped Davlik
Reflashed 4.3.2.1 fresh

and followed Paul's instructions and did the method posted on page 8

I get no error but the navigation button does not show... I have reflashed twice now (which is not needed but I tried that as well)

I get the whole process fine but no Navigation button shows....

Do I need any other .apk from the 2.0 GSM build besides Maps.apk?

Installed new Maps successfully and the Navigate option shows up. However, Google Voice kept force-closing. I uninstalled it and re-installed v0.2.6 from the Market, but now it's sitting at the "Downloading" step for all folders, just like in the previous CM versions that required a different build.prop. Anyone got around that yet?

yeah i think someone should add that step to the first post :)

Now for a weird issue... I use handcent for SMS and for some reason it does not recognize any of my contacts now. (It just shows the phone number and not the name)

rm /system/app/Maps.apk
rm (what ever your davilk for maps is. i just mount to ubuntu and delete the davilk that way without adb:D)
cp the props to /system
then reboot
su

cp your maps.apk to /system/app
