You're not getting what I am saying. It's not that it will drain the battery faster, it's that there is no juice left in the battery to make the screen brighter and keep your phone running at the same time. It's not like a gas gauge on a car. When a battery gets low, it's ability to function at a necessary level is compromised. 5% doesn't mean you have 5% of completely powered battery left. 5% means you are down to 5% of the batteries total ability to function. In other words, your battery is operating without 95% of its peak performance. Granted, modern batteries have handled this in better ways, but when you get to 5%, you really are too low for performance. Thinking you can get 100% of the batteries performance for the last 5% charge showing until it hits 0% just isn't going to happen.
