Whilst 3Gb RAM would be nice, 2GB is very acceptable and keeps the cost down a little (my laptop is a bit slow with 1GB but still does the job) what I find totally unacceptable is the pathetic 16Gb of Memory samsung insist on putting in the devices. 16Gb is fine for people who only have a few basic apps - like my wife who uses her S3 for Facebook, candycrush, and photos, but virtually useless for me - I've got 4Gb of S-Note files! 1 or two decent games fills the rest.
I'm not keen on rooting (one day I will but not now) and can understand releasing base models for the masses but think, as they do make bigger memory models, they should at least be available to those who want them. OR let us put the apps on the ExtSD! The note II is a prime example - mines full and its still nearly impossible to find a 32Gb model in the UK, and none on contract.
I use clean master to clear RAM on screen off on all my devices - works well so don't find the 2GB in the Note II a problem. Note 3 not different enough to warrant upgrade - unless the 32/64Gb becomes available
The main thing that's holding me back on the 8 is the memory size, if a 32Gb becomes available in UK then I might be tempted as I really like S Note but need more on-device storage to release its full potential. It's great having the external SD - I use 61 of the 64 available for files, music, movies but feel limited that I can't "use" S-Note files over there.
I'll probably be waiting for the Note 8.1 (second editions usually have a very nice balance of features once the big S have tested the water) or the 10.1 2014 - unless JB 4.3 let's us move apps or app data to SD
Still way better than the Fruit but just not quiet there ...... Yet
